Los Angeles Backpedals From Arizona Boycott

Posted in California - Politics & Government on June 28th, 2010 by MorningStar

Despite the Los Angeles officials political rhetoric about Arizona, the phony allegations of racial profiling, segregation, the arbitrary arrest and deportation of little brown people, and talk about Nazis, concentration camps and a new holocaust, the city officials are not about to shut off one of their primary sources of revenue by getting rid of the Arizona based American Traffic Solutions cameras, especially when the only other major supplier of traffic cameras and software is also located in Arizona.

Los Angeles has around four to five hundred traffic cameras on street corners to catch the minions of evil as they run red lights, make illegal turns, blast through stop signs and race under the descending railroad barriers. These cameras do not belong to the city of Los Angeles and neither does the software that makes them work, records the violator’s license number and notifies the police department where, and to whom they send the ticket. Every time one of those cameras clicks a photo, Los Angeles sucks another $446 out of somebody’s pocket. The cameras are installed, maintained and operated by American Traffic Solutions in Scottsdale, Arizona. Thirty-two ATS owned and operated traffic cameras mounted at Los Angeles intersections account for tens of thousands of $446 red light fines every year. Other than property taxes and the city’s cut on any bribes taken in, those traffic cameras are probably their best source of revenue.

US Airways, one of the nation’s largest carriers is based in Arizona provides hundreds of flights out of LAX to destinations all over the planet on a daily basis. Even more importantly, US Airways brings millions of tourists to Los Angeles every year. Tourists who spend millions of dollars on cheap souvenirs made in Chinese forced labor camps and sold in Los Angeles for more money than some third-world sweatshop workers make in a year. Tourism is an important source of revenue for the city because they forced most of the high-tech manufacturing facilities to move out of state. The corporation that owns American Traffic Solutions is based in Los Angeles but their manufacturing subsidiaries are in other states where the taxes and regulations are more business friendly.

Southern California and Los Angeles in particular has been the primary destination for domestic and foreign tourists for years but the trend has been flattening out for the last seven years. Most of the tourist attractions in Southern California are now outside of Los Angeles County and many tourists consider it well worth the added expense to fly into San Diego or Orange County directly than to wade through 436 square miles of drug crazed gang bangers blasting away at each other with automatic weapons. The fact that California’s draconian gun laws make it impossible to defend yourself against the area’s 4 million predatory illegal aliens who are armed better than most police officers may play a role in the dwindling tourist appeal. If someone is looking to get robbed, beaten, shot, stabbed, gang raped, or run over and left for dead in the street then Los Angeles is certainly the place to visit, furthermore, since Los Angeles has more pedophiles per square foot than any other major metropolitan area in the nation, it can be considered a child friendly destination for anyone averse to longevity.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power long-term contracts for wind and nuclear generated electricity with Arizona generating companies and they are not going to back out of them. Building a power plant of any sort in the state of California is a long convoluted and very expensive process that requires the potential owner of the plant to jump thousands of regulatory hurdles thrown into their path by a multitude of state agencies, environmental groups by the thousands and politically savvy labor unions seeking to blackmail the owners into labor agreements for the construction and operation of the plant if it eventually gets approved.

The city of Los Angeles has more than $52 million tied up in investments and contracts with Arizona companies, they have replaced the working citizens with illiterate, unskilled illegal aliens who pay little or no taxes while demanding subsidized health care, low income housing, and free income and the middle class workers who once provided the revenue to pay for all these idiotic programs are now unemployed, many have left the state and the city’s financial liquidity is rapidly dwindling.

Fortunately for the city officials, talk is cheap and they can yammer on forever about the perceived inequities of Arizona while they drown in the fetid stew of their own sanctuary policies that have emptied their wallets but ensured their continual re-election. As far as political strategies go, it may be abysmally idiotic, but it has proven to be highly contagious among Democrats who can’t get elected on the basis of qualities once held in high esteem, but long ago abandoned by public servants who serve only their own best interests.

California – A Prophetic Glimpse Of America’s Future

Posted in California - Politics & Government on January 13th, 2010 by MorningStar

Given the fact that the congressional socialists have managed to cram their ridiculous health care legislation down the throats of the American people to the point of immanent implementation in less than one year, it might just turn out that they can do the same thing with their immigration reform/amnesty agenda before the mid-term elections come around and the American people have a chance to rid themselves of these scumbags.

While the current congressional views on immigration reform, like their views on health care reform, will be devastating to this nation if implemented, our congressional representatives appear to be less than concerned about the impact on the American people and adding benefit to our lives by actually improving this nation seems to be the last thing they want to accomplish.

The high costs that led to health care reform and the deplorable state of America’s educational system are two separate problems, but the underlying cause is common to both. The cost of health care was driven into the stratosphere by the more than 40 million illegal aliens taking advantage of federal law that required hospitals and emergency rooms to provide them with free health care despite their inability to pay. The cost of that “free” health care was passed along to the tax payers and consumers through higher medical care costs which inevitably drove up the cost of health insurance. The health care reform legislation does not address the root cause of the problem and we can expect the costs to escalate despite the reforms and we will have fewer dollars to pay those increased costs because our tax burden will increase to pay for the insurance of 40 million people who shouldn’t be in this country anyway. Simple common sense tells us that to solve a problem you must first identify the cause and then figure out how to eliminate it. You can’t rid your home of ants by poisoning the family dog but that is exactly the way our congressional representatives approached health care reform. Now that they have solved that problem they are ready to deal with immigration.

It is a futile hope to believe that the United States Congress will exercise any more intelligence when handling immigration than they demonstrated when they solved the health care problem. Despite the fact that millions of American citizens are unemployed and facing foreclosure, the representatives of both major political parties still cling to the belief that the United States need to build a larger workforce by increasing immigration and giving those who have already come here illegally amnesty for their criminal violation of American immigration laws. The simple fact is the politicians in Washington D.C. flatly refuse to see illegal aliens as a part of the immigration problem. It would be politically incorrect to identify the root cause of the problem and anyone who dared to do so would be branded a total racist.

In every election that takes place in this nation responsible American citizens face a number of alternative approaches. For any number of reasons many American voters are not inclined to actually consider the choices they make at the voting booth. They may have had a limited education. There is the possibility that they have never read the U.S. Constitution and everything they know about the formation of the American government came from elementary school text books. Quite a few will vote for the candidates of the political party that promises them the most personal gain and they will continue to vote for that party’s candidates year after year despite their failure to deliver on those promises. American voters routinely vote for the candidates they are told to vote for. If the PTA or the workplace union endorses a group of candidates, many of their members will vote for them. The political parties, every newspaper in the country, some religious groups, virtually every labor organization and ten million special interest groups annually spend millions of dollars printing up informational circulars and pamphlets advising us about who to vote for and who to vote against. Despite their reputation individualism and independence, the American people are mostly followers of the herd. They don’t want to think anymore than they have to and prefer being told what to do and what to think. Very few American voters actually research the candidates during an election by looking at their background, their voting record, the legislative endorsements they’ve made or any real relevant information about them. It is far too time consuming. We would rather vote for someone who is sure to win based on who the newspapers tell us is the most popular than vote for a certain loser we know to be more qualified and distinctly more honest. As a result of our own laziness, the United States Congress is filled with charlatans, thieves, dumbbells, tax evaders, sexual deviants and drug addicts, and most ironic of all, they are people who, like us, don’t want to think too hard about what decisions they make. Rather than doing a lot of exhausting research on the issues before them, they prefer someone tell them how to vote. It isn’t their constituents they turn to, it’s the party bosses, and we are left holding the bag and the bill to pay when the dust settles.

The United States Congress is one of the only places I can think of where an individual with a college degree in English Literature, Philosophy, Communications, Political Science, Art History, Physical Education, Women’s Studies, Poetry, General Studies, Liberal Arts, or Sociology can find extremely lucrative employment providing they also have a well-honed talent for expressing their convoluted cogitations to the general public in an articulate manner that appears to be logical and intelligent despite its lack of substance or actual meaning. If it were not for the United States Congress, parents and grandparents with tons of surplus money to finance them, and/or their families and friends connections to generous campaign contributors willing to gamble huge sums of money for the chance to own a big slice of their own Washington politician, these otherwise feculent pedestrian dregs of our nation’s appallingly expensive institutions of higher learning would be leveraging their artfully designed and very impressive looking college diplomas to compete for employment as burger flippers, trash truck drivers, dish washers and janitors. After all, anyone with access to tons of money, the IQ of an avocado, and nothing better to do for the next four years, can drink their way through the most prestigious universities this nation has to offer and come out the other end with an impressive looking diploma and the legitimate right to add a few meaningless abbreviations to the end of their illegibly scrawled signature. Those beautifully engraved (suitable for framing) diplomas do not indicate any depth of character, positive human attributes, measurable amount of intelligence, grasp of common sense, leadership skills or any other differentiating attribute indicating even a minimal difference between them and the rest of this nation’s society. The ability to maintain sobriety for a few hours, one day a week, or just long enough to barely pass the weekly tests required to achieve the minimum passing grade ultimately results in graduation, but it is no indication that the bearer of that magnificent looking diploma is any more intelligent than the average sixth grader, and anyone willing to look closely at the miscreants populating the halls of American government will discover ample substantiation for this statement of fact.

Prospective U.S. Senators and members of the House of Representatives are not required to undergo a battery of intelligence tests, they are not subject to periodic drug testing, they are not examined for mental stability, maturity, and they are not only entirely free to lie about their true intentions for seeking political office, it is a natural expectation. Three quarters of our congressional representatives couldn’t pass the most basic civil service exam. If these individuals applied for landscaping maintenance positions with any American city the majority of them would be rejected after failing the written exam, most of them couldn’t pass the psychological tests required to be a police officer, and many couldn’t even pass the piss test required to work at a Burger King. Despite this, they are elected to high political offices in Washington D.C. and given the authority and responsibility to determine what we, the American people can and cannot do, who will and will not sit on the bench in the Supreme Court, how much of our hard-earned income we are allowed to keep and which gaggle of lead-assed social malcontents will receive the money that is taken away from us. This is why the United States government is populated by people who have never owned, operated or even worked for a private business and yet they are entrusted with the authority to determine how U.S, businesses should operate, this is why there are individuals who have never served in the U.S. Military determining American military strategy and rules of engagement for combat situations they can’t even begin to imagine, and characters who have never even balanced their own checkbook determining economic policies that will affect every man woman and child in this nation for decades to come. Regardless of the abysmal performance of these well established simple-minded twits the American people continue to either keep them in office or replace them with even more dim-witted and witless imbeciles in every single election. Is there anybody out there in the real world that sees even the slightest problem with the continuation of this manner of selecting our elected representatives?

Has it occurred to anyone that the political endorsements made by the PTA, the AARP, the millions of special interest groups out there, our local union leaders, and every single newspaper on the planet might be compiled by individuals who are attempting to fulfill their own personal goals at the expense of the American people? As a former high-ranking officer in a major Southern California labor union, I have sat in stunned silence while the rank and file members of the local were instructed to vote for candidates and local initiatives decidedly not in their best interests. I have attended countless executive board meetings where disbursements from the local’s treasury were authorized to support the political campaigns of candidates who, once elected, immediately turned on the middle-class workers by raising their taxes and attacking the companies those workers depended on. Throughout my twenty-four year affiliation with that organization, from my first day of employment to the date that I became fed up with the lies and became the most outspoken critical scab that group has ever experienced, not one single member ever managed to connect the dots between their financial suffering, the decimation of their once lucrative benefits, the never-ending waves of lay-offs, force-reductions and forced early retirements, and the local’s campaign support for the political candidates who later proposed and supported the legislative acts that resulted in their pain and suffering. What I witnessed as one of the top officers of that local is not uncommon. The same thing happens in the meeting halls of every local union in America and millions of American union members routinely buy into the lies they are told without question. Independent thought is the scourge of any collective advocacy group and critical reasoning is enthusiastically discouraged. The continued growth and financial stability of labor unions, parent-teacher associations, the AARP, La Raza, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party is entirely dependent on these groups ability to convince their members that their sole purpose for existence is to benefit the people they serve regardless of what they are actually doing. Given the simple fact that most Americans would rather acquiesce to a lie than exercise their atrophied ability to think independently, the advocacy group’s ability to perpetuate the myth of benevolence is not difficult to perpetuate. The United States of America now stands on the brink of destruction because the American people would rather follow than think. If you believe that this statement of simple fact needs to be substantiated with examples and proof beyond those that are already banging away at your mind twenty four hours a day, seven days a week then you are a clueless follower of the herd in front of you and you need to quit reading and catch up before you find yourself lost and being forced to think.

Admittedly, I have always been pretty hard on the Democrats, or at least what passes for a Democrat these days. For the most part they are a spineless lot willing to trade entitlements for votes and they could care less about the people they serve as long as they stay in control, however, the Republicans politicians are no better and I consider them more despicable simply because I expect more from them and they have proven themselves incapable of their own high standards. Generally speaking, the American people expect their political representatives to be wiser, more intelligent and steadfastly truthful and honest but we vote for liars, cheats and con artists time after time because our choices are intentionally limited between a Democratic crook or a Republican crook and ultimately, the choice is not being made by the American people but by the political parties who control the campaign funds and finance the entire charade. When the American people voted for Barack Obama in 2008 they were voting for what they hoped would be an end to the extreme corruption of American government by self serving politicians and special interests. It is pretty obvious that they were sold a bill of goods and our current political environment is a continuation of the same old garbage. If anything, we are far worse off now than we were and disaster is knocking even louder than ever before. Not only do we have to deal with the political bickering of self-serving politicians slashing and stabbing away at each other but we’ve allowed them to manipulate us into believing that We are a part of that fight and that we need to choose up sides and start slashing and stabbing away at each other, and the most ironic thing about it is that no matter who wins that battle, the American people lose. As long as we have a two party system where both groups are predominantly a bunch of self serving, dumb as a bag of hair, dishonest jerks, we are better off if neither side wins an overwhelmingly dominant position.

If political wisdom (an oxy-moron if there ever was one) were the product of scientific reasoning and experimental research, the state of California would be viewed as the classic example of a carefully conducted experiment. The state of California has been said to lead the entire nation with its progressive trends, fashions, economic policies and legislative proposals. With two brief exceptions the Democratic Party has had a solid lock on the state of California’s legislature since 1959. The Democratic Party has accomplished this feat by trickery and the most extreme form of gerrymandering imaginable. It is nearly impossible for an incumbent to be voted out of office in California, and despite the fact that the state has had quite a few Republican governors the state legislature has remained under Democratic control for nearly fifty years.

California is the most populous state in the nation and the second most populous sub-national entity on the North American continent. Some years ago it was noted that if the state of California were a nation it would rank among the ten largest economies in the world. It is home to the nation’s second and sixth largest census statistical areas as well as eight of the nation’s fifty most populous cities, and it has an estimated population of 36,961,664 people. Unfortunately, approximately one third of the nation’s illegal aliens reside in the state of California and while the estimates of the state’s illegal alien population range from 4 million to 13.2 million, anyone brave enough to drive through downtown Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Boyle Heights or any other densely populated area of the state would be willing to swear that the higher estimate is more credible. The high density of illegal aliens in California is the result of having nearly thirty major California cities publicly announce their defiance of federal immigration laws and proclaim themselves as “Sanctuary Cities” where illegal aliens are free to do as they please without fear of apprehension.

The economy of the state of California represents about 13% of the United States gross domestic product or approximately $2 trillion dollars annually. The gross domestic product of California alone is larger than all but eight countries in the world. However, despite the wealth of the “Golden State” California’s state government has managed to accumulate an estimated $40 billion dollar deficit by nearly tripling their state spending in the last ten years to finance entitlement programs aimed primarily at the massive influx of illegal aliens. The state government’s sole source of income is the state income taxes imposed on its legal residents and citizens and 97% of those individuals contribute less than 40% of the taxes collected. A mere 3% of the state’s inhabitants contribute more than 60% of all state taxes collected. Meanwhile, anywhere from 3 million to 13.2 million illegal aliens contribute little or nothing to the state coffers and serve primarily as a massive drain on the state’s economy. Incredibly enough, the state’s predominantly Democratic legislators have futilely tried for years to plug this drain with huge piles of tax dollars. It hasn’t worked yet, but it’s possible that it might work next year, or the year after. The logic of their actions is not apparent.

In order to maintain the high level of entitlement programs for illegal aliens the state legislators have cut deeply into the educational budget for the state. Hundreds of classes were eliminated altogether, thousands of workers were forced out of jobs and state college tuitions were increased by 32%. More than $16 million dollars derived from the increased tuitions and fees paid by the state’s legitimate resident college students will go directly to pay for the financial aid benevolently handed out to individuals who entered the United States illegally. Young American students, the sons and daughters of the state’s legal residents and citizens whose tax dollars were used to build, maintain and operate the state’s universities, are already being forced to finance their own way through school by working two or three part time jobs, and now the cost of their tuition, text books and miscellaneous school fees are being significantly increased to provide virtually free college educations to the state’s overwhelmingly large population of young illegal aliens. Ironically, upon the successful completion of their studies, illegal aliens with college diplomas, master’s degrees and even doctorate degrees remain legally unemployable because they entered the United States without legal authorization. Then again, the illegal alien graduates of California’s tax payer subsidized state universities and colleges can and do find positions of employment in the state of California and elsewhere across the nation by illegally falsifying their identities and their immigration status, or by going to work for any one of the multitude of American companies who are more than willing to consciously accept obviously false identification papers and immigration documents in order to fill their vacant positions providing the bearer of those blatantly phony papers willingly acquiesces to drastically discounted wage scales. The businesses and multi-national corporations operating out of California have led the nation in new and ingeniously clever ways to get around the federal prohibition against hiring illegal alien workers. Entire departments of many large companies in California have been outsourced to temporary agencies who hire illegal aliens to perform the parent company’s work as independent contractors. This quasi-legal arrangement provides the company with an unlimited supply of dirt cheap workers. They cannot be held accountable for the immigration status of another company’s employees and they have the advantage of not having to pay worker’s compensation, provide benefit packages, 401 K plans or complying with state and federal overtime laws. Temporary agencies sprout up like mushrooms all over the state and disappear just as quickly. By the time the federal government becomes aware of their existence, they’ve moved, changed names, and continue their operation from another location. Some of these temporary agencies have never even had an office inside the United States where the work their U.S. educated employees perform originates.

The state of California is the Petri dish where the future of ultra progressive American culture grows and any prudent American citizen concerned for the welfare of this nation would do well to carefully examine the cause and effect of California’s legislative history and government policies. The ludicrously idiotic, illogical and amoral legislative acts passed into law by the state’s execrably myopic political “representatives,” the irresponsible, inane, dangerous and downright stupid local government policies and ordinances adopted by self-serving, bribe taking, treasury dipping, pathological malcontents who have lied, cheated, purchased and manipulated their way into positions as civic leaders, representatives and supervisors of city and county boards and mayor’s offices, as well as the goatish inbred political elitists squatting over the state’s population at the executive level in Sacramento have turned the “Golden State” of California into a blighted, feculent, malodorous festering, scum-covered 163,696 square miles of overflowing cesspool.

Fifty-five years ago California might have been worth emulating. It was a classic example of this nation’s cutting edge technology, it lead the nation in scientific and academic achievements and the state’s prosperous manufacturing capabilities were marvels of human ingenuity and it served not just the United States but the entire civilized world as a center of technology and engineering competence, the home of the world’s most prosperous entertainment and music endeavors, and the center of American agricultural production. California’s seemingly endless supply of natural resources, massive oil deposits and mineral resources remained at full production levels long after the demands of World War II subsided. The state’s countless defense manufacturers, pumped up by more than 12% of the U.S. government’s wartime defense contracts quickly adapted to manufacturing industrial goods after the war. Los Angeles became the fastest growing metropolitan area in the nation and millions of people poured into California from the eastern, southern and mid-western states where joined hundreds of thousands of returning American soldiers to create the most populous state in the Union. California was where businesses thrived, countless good paying jobs waited for willing workers and housing tracts developed into sprawling suburbs complete with department stores, restaurants, public parks, libraries, schools and hospitals interconnected by a spider web of roads and highways packed with affordable automobiles as everyone scuttled about in pursuit of the American dream. The prosperous American middle class, consumerism, credit cards and amusement parks were born in the state of California and the state’s massive entertainment industry effectively, and very deceptively, demonstrated the multi-faceted pleasurable nature of California’s newly developed lifestyle to the rest of the world through the miracle of modern television. The state of California transformed the entire nation with its technological advancements, scientific achievements, agricultural developments, manufacturing, entertainment, and music industry. However, that was fifty-five years ago.

The California of 2010 is a very different place. It is still the most populous state in the nation with 36,756,666 residents. Ridiculously conservative estimates indicate that California is home to around 3 million illegal aliens. More realistic estimates range from to 6 to more than 9 million illegal aliens in California alone. The state’s agricultural industry is entirely dependent on the ever expanding population of illegal aliens. In many respects the relationship between the agricultural industry in California and the illegal aliens they employ is remarkably similar to the relationship that once existed in the southern states between the plantation owners and their slaves. The illegal alien field hands receive little compensation for working 12 to 16 hours a day in the hot sun of California’s fertile agricultural areas. They are paid far below the legal minimum scale and receive no additional compensation for the many hours of overtime they are required to put in. They housed in dilapidated rat and cockroach infested shacks that goats wouldn’t walk into. The state required portable toilets parked nearby can be easily located on the darkest of nights by the thick putrid stench of receptacles filled to the breaking point with human excrement. In many cases the portable toilets are supplied by the same outfits that broker the illegal laborers and haul them from one field to the next in antiquated, over packed school buses purchased for next to nothing at state sponsored auctions. The brokers that supply them also charge them for the meager food they receive, the hovels they live in and the blankets they sleep under. They also supply them with cheap liquor to drink at expensive prices and occasionally arrange for underage females to be smuggled into the country to satisfy the sexual needs of forty or more workers in a single day. Commonly these young girls are lured into making the trip up here with promises of good paying jobs in the garment factories of Los Angeles, and more often than not, they are abandoned by the side of the road, penniless and traumatized. Those that are not abandoned are hauled off to the next waiting group of less than discriminating field hands. As ignorant and uneducated as these field hands commonly are, few of them spend more than one season in the fields before either returning home or heading into the nearest large city where they can find better paying employment as temporary workers for landscaping companies, restaurants, car washes owned by unscrupulous American businessmen who would rather cheat an illegal alien out of wages than pay an American citizen minimum wage for doing the work that needs to be done. In 2010 the once glorious state of California is buried in debt up to its eyeballs. It is 163,696 square miles of crime ridden cesspool interconnected by thousands of miles of ill-maintained, antiquated and ridiculously over-crowded highways that allow the millions of daily commuters the ability to travel back and forth at a maximum speed of 10 miles per hour. The manufacturing industry and the entertainment industry have folded up shop and moved to other states where the taxes are lighter and regulations less harsh, and the most conspicuous characteristic of the state’s vast shopping malls are the empty windows of the bankrupt stores. Huge healthcare complexes lie vacant and unused, hammered out of business by the unfunded mandate to treat those who will not pay. The only things that are actually growing in the state are the unemployment rate, the illiteracy rate of recent high school graduates, the population of homeless people and the state income tax.

In 2005 a study conducted by the California Research Bureau estimated that the cost of providing health care to illegal aliens in California alone was $10.5 billion per year

In 2006 the California Department of Education handed out $122,389,686 in grants to roughly 22 regional centers through a federally funded program that was authorized under the “No Child Left Behind Act” called “The Migrant Education Program.”

In 2008 the Los Angeles Department of Public Social Services indicated that 25% of Los Angeles County’s welfare and food stamp benefits are going directly to the children of illegal aliens, and it was costing the L.A. County taxpayers $36 million a month.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the current unemployment rate in California is around 12.3%. American citizens are going broke, facing bankruptcy and losing their homes by the thousands and yet the policy makers, the movers and shakers in Sacramento who were elected to represent the people of the state refuse to acknowledge any correlation between the illegal aliens and the high rate of unemployment; furthermore, they blatantly deny that illegal aliens have anything but a positive impact on the state’s economy. The Sacramento politician’s delusional belief that the millions of illegal freeloaders form the foundation for a healthy state economy is, bluntly speaking, crazier than shit. It is another classic example of a liberal lie told often enough to become accepted as a popular truth despite the absence of logic, substantiating factual evidence or supporting statistical research. It is a delusion that is enthusiastically propagated by the liberal news media through bold headlines declaring “UCLA Study Says Legalizing Workers Would Aid Economy” as the Los Angeles Times recently did on January 7, 2010. Unfortunately, the left-leaning newspaper declined to explain to it’s readers that this purported scholarly study was slapped together by a UCLA professor working in the “Chicano Studies” department. Obviously, someone in the newspaper’s editorial staff felt that the full disclosure of this relevant bit of information might reduce the overall credibility and impact of the article and raise questions about the possibility of the lone researcher’s favorable bias towards illegal aliens. From the viewpoint of a far-left newspaper struggling to justify a popular, but entirely unjustifiable delusion, such a concern would be warranted. There is no legal, moral, statistical or logical argument of substance for the legalization of this nation’s estimated thirty to forty million illegal aliens, and there is no place in the United States where the cold reality of this fact is made more apparent than it is in the state of California. Ton after ton of well documented statistical data derived from state and federal law enforcement, welfare, and educational agencies clearly demonstrating the detrimental and very expensive impact of illegal aliens on the United States, and most especially, on the U.S. tax payers can only be countered with hype, spin, fraudulent studies, meaningless rhetoric, misleading newspaper articles and outright lies. It’s the tried and true strategy of the left, it worked well for health care reform and there is little reason to believe that it won’t work for amnesty. That is, as long as the people of this nation don’t look too hard at the state of California.

Liberalism – The Enduring Wisdom of Senility

Posted in California - Politics & Government on December 23rd, 2009 by MorningStar

I have come to the conclusion that thinking like a modern politically progressive liberal is an art and a science that takes many years to acquire and hone to perfection. As evidenced by this morning’s Los Angeles Times, it is an ability that I have failed to develop a true appreciation for and it is quite possible that I will never comprehend the full complexities of this complex process.

Every morning when the paper is delivered I pull out the main news section, the business section and throw the rest in the trash without even looking at it. I quit reading the comics section when it ceased to be funny and became another outlet for simple-minded political expression. Truth be told, I despise the Los Angeles Times, but I switched to it from the Orange County Register because the Orange County paper eliminated most of the news to make room for more advertising, they abandoned their Libertarian mission statement and became more liberal than the “Socialist Weekly,” so I figured that as long as I my choices were going to be limited to a selection of left wing propaganda rags I may as well pick the one that had at least some relevance, however small it might be.   The Los Angeles Times is not a step up from the Orange County Register, but it does supply me with more packing material when I need it and it soaks up paint and wood stain as well as any paper around, and for someone who works diligently towards an understanding of liberal thought, the Los Angeles Times is a veritable gold mine of politically correct bullshit.   With that being said, I must admit that I still have much study to do before I figure out the idiosyncrasies of the liberal thought process and this morning’s edition made that fact very clear to me.

On A34 of this morning’s LA Times there appears an article entitled “The enduring wisdom of Special Order 40″ praising the new police chief’s dedication to the city’s long standing policy of not enforcing immigration law and prohibiting the police department from cooperating with the federal government’s immigration authorities. This appears to be one of the cornerstones of California’s liberal communities and similar “sanctuary” policies have been adopted in more than 23 large California cities. Essentially, these policies allow convicted illegal alien felons, rapists, murderers, pedophiles and all sorts of other violent criminals to do their time in the state’s prison system and be released into the neighborhoods they were arrested in rather than being deported. From a liberal standpoint, this is viewed as a benefit because more than 30% of the nation’s illegal aliens reside in the state,  and contrary to popular belief,  they participate in all state and federal elections by loyally supporting the Democratic candidates who are the primary source of the entitlement programs they depend on.   If they all voted for conservative candidates, the Liberals would hunt them down like plague carrying ground squirrels and get rid of them, but that’s not the case so they are portrayed as a beneficial part of our society regardless of the burden they pose to the California tax payers and the drain to the state’s rapidly dwindling finances.

On A5 of this morning’s paper there appeared an article that clearly demonstrates the actual cost of Special Order 40 in much more personal terms. That article included the security video image of a 72 year old legal immigrant seconds before he was fatally shot in the back of the head by three armed gang members holding up his 98-cent store in the Pico-Union area. Ironically, “The enduring wisdom of Special Order 40″ explains the vital importance of Special Order 40 in the Pico-Union, the Westlake District and Temple-Beaudry areas of Los Angeles which are all busting at the seams with illegal aliens from southern Mexico and Central America, and this is the same Pico-Union area where Fereidoun Kohanim, 72, a kindly old man known for handing out free candy to children at his 98-cent store was shot in the head.

As far as the liberals of Los Angeles are concerned, there is no correlation between Special Order 40 and the rampant crime that plagues the predominantly illegal alien neighborhoods of the city. Sixty percent of the city’s gang members are illegal aliens and they spend most of their time preying on the other legal and illegal aliens who live and work in these areas. When they are not busy waging turf wars with competing gangs of illegal aliens they concentrate on expanding their territory by intimidating, harassing and often killing the African-Americans who live nearby. The liberals who control the positions of authority in Los Angeles consider the murders and the high crime rate in these areas as a simple coincidence rather than a consequence of the laws and policies they have created. I suppose it is a matter of perspective that I have yet to fully comprehend. If I survive long enough maybe I will figure it out. If I live to be very old it is possible that senility will help me appreciate this perspective.

Fifty years ago, before common sense was over-ruled by political correctness, problems like these could be dealt with. Raids would take place and people would be rounded up and locked away in deep dark dungeons. They would be prosecuted, deported, gassed or electrocuted and the law would be enforced, justice was done, sometimes in the courts, sometimes in the streets. Regardless of where or how it happened, the bad guys got the idea, and even a lone ten year old white boy like me could walk the streets of downtown Los Angeles without being victimized. Fifty years later we’ve progressed to the point where law enforcement no longer holds the shackles, it wears them. Criminal gangs can’t be rounded up without the appearance of racial profiling, mass protests and outraged community activists, demands for investigations, possible riots and certain repercussions. The citizens are no longer safe, not on the streets and not even in their own homes. This is an improvement? This is the legacy of enduring wisdom? If so, the logic escapes me so I will wait for senility to make it easier to understand, and in the meantime I will merely watch and marvel at the genius of liberal thought.

California State Senator Mark Leno – Champion for Manipulative Political Tricksters

Posted in California - Politics & Government on September 7th, 2009 by MorningStar

California State Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco has proposed a bill in the state senate to officially recognize May 22nd of each year as “Harvey Milk Day.” According to Senator Leno, “There are days to of special significance for John Muir, for the California Poppy, why would we not have such a day for this unique California hero?”

Harvey Milk was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He served 11 months in office and was responsible for passing a stringent gay rights ordinance for the city. That was to be the sum total of his life’s accomplishments.

As a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Dan White was making an annual salary of $9,600 and he was having a hard time making ends meet, his wife was expecting and he needed more income so he resigned his position. After giving it some thought, Mr. White returned to George Moscone’s office and asked to have his job back. Mayor Moscone met with White and stated that barring legal problems, he would consider the resignation rescinded. Moscone further stated that if there was a legal question, he would just reappoint White to the Board. Dan White left Moscone’s office with the understanding that he would return to the Board of Supervisors; the deal was in the bag and Moscone agreed to it. Shortly after this, a number of other supervisors, including Harvey Milk, decided to pull an political end run around Dan White. Dan White had cast the only opposing vote in opposition to Harvey Milk’s proposed gay rights ordinance, and the two clashed routinely over their views of the city, it’s developing political environment and most especially, their opposing views on gay rights. White was an ex-cop and an ex-fireman, he tended toward conservative ideas and his confrontational manner had abraded the sensitivities of the more liberal gentlemen on the board. White had campaigned for his seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors with the promise “There are thousands upon thousands of frustrated, angry people waiting to unleash a fury that can and will eradicate the malignancies which blight our city. I am not going to be forced out of San Francisco by splinter groups of radicals, social deviates, and incorrigibles.”

The strategy of the conspiring political back-stabbers was to convince Moscone that he needed to appoint someone more in line with the ethnic diversity of the district that Dan White had represented, maybe get somebody from one of the area’s minority special interest groups to apply a bit of subtle pressure, a few phone calls from “concerned citizens” and the deed should be done. They were successful and Moscone was swayed from the belief that Dan White effectively served his district to believing that there was an actual need and an expression of desire for a supervisory representative who had a better ear for the ethnic diversity of the district. It was a case of under-handed, manipulative office politics, the “concerns” were more illusion than fact, the “concerned citizens” were a myth, and the minority special interest advocates were all too easily manipulated into climbing on board with Milk’s vendetta.

Ultimately Moscone, despite his promise to Dan White, caved in to Harvey Milk’s badgering and the mayor promised to appoint someone to White’s position on the Board that is more sympathetic to the needs of homosexuals. Milk suggested that Moscone offer the job to Don Horanzy, 42, a real estate loan officer of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Horanzy was a full time liberal and a part-time social activist who had organized the “All People’s Coalition” in White’s lower-middle-class, partly black, Oriental and white ethnic district. Moscone contacted Don Horanzy about the possible appointment and he later called Moscone back to tell the mayor that would accept the position. Mayor Moscone told Horanzy to be at his office in the city hall at 10:30am on the morning of November 27, 1978 because Moscone had scheduled a press conference to publicly announce the appointment. A reporter for KCBS News calls Dan White at home and asks for his reaction to Moscone’s decision to appoint Don Horanzy to White’s former position.

Dan White called Mayor Moscone and requested a face to face meeting. Moscone agreed to the meeting. Around 10:45 am Dan White tapped on a basement window near the parking ramp on the north side of the building and attracted the attention of a city engineer. He told the man that he had forgotten his keys and since the man recognized him, he opened the window and allowed white to enter the building and bypass the metal detectors. Minutes later, White entered the side door to the mayor’s office and told the receptionist that he was there to see Mayor Moscone. Don Horanzy and his family were sitting in the outer reception area that White had avoided by coming in through the side door, and Moscone’s press aide, realizing the potential for an ugly confrontation, ushered the Horanzy family to a conference room where they could wait until White had left.

Moscone came out to meet White in the reception area between his office and the outer waiting room. White immediately asked the mayor to keep his promise and re-appoint him to his former position. Moscone declined and the discussion became heated. Moscone suggested they take the argument into the private conference room attached to his office so they could discuss the matter in privacy without creating a public scene that would be overheard by those waiting in the reception area. After entering the mayors private sanctum, Moscone poured two drinks and lit a cigarette. Dan White pulled out his snub-nosed police issue Smith & Wesson Chiefs Special revolver, shot the mayor once in the shoulder and once in the chest. Moscone dropped like a rock without a word. Standing over the bleeding mayor, Dan White fired two rounds point blank into Moscone’s brain. To the receptionist and those in the outer waiting room, it sounded like a car backfiring.

Dan White left the mayor’s office after reloading his revolver and headed immediately to the suite of supervisor’s offices on the opposite side of the building, he crossed the reception area, went straight to Harvey Milk’s office and asked, “Harvey, can I see you a minute?” The two men walked to Whites former office, his nameplate had already been removed. Milk entered the office first and White followed, closing the door behind him, blocking Milk’s only path of escape. Without a word, Dan White pulled the pistol, Milk screamed and flung up his arms. The first round hit him in the wrist. The two rounds that followed went into his chest. The fourth and fatal round went into Milk’s head from a short distance. Harvey Milk slumped to the ground dead. Again, Dan White approached the body and fired a fifth round at close range through the back of Milk’s head.

Dianne Feinstein, then president of the Board of Supervisors, heard the five gunshots and called the police; she walked into White’s former office and found the bleeding corpse of Harvey Milk on the floor. As president of the Board of Supervisors, Feinstein became the default mayor of San Francisco. Ironically, she had run for the position at least twice and lost both times. Inadvertently, Dan White had done her a favor, and ultimately she managed to get re-elected in 1979 and again in 1983 before moving on to bigger and better things.

Thirty five minutes after the shooting, Dan White and his wife walked into the police station where White had once worked as a patrolman. That station was a mere four blocks from the city hall where the bullet riddled bodies of Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk still lay. White turned in his Smith & Wesson, nine expended shell casings from the rounds he had fired and eight un-fired rounds. He was questioned for 90 minutes by homicide detectives before being taken upstairs to the jail and booked for the two homicides. His wife left the building weeping.

At the time the San Francisco Police Department was staffed predominantly by the descendants of working-class Irish immigrants. Generally speaking, they regarded the city’s growing gay population with disdain, and expressed a high degree of contempt for the liberal direction of city government. Following the deaths of mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk, Dan White was frequently visited in his cell by former colleagues on the police force who entertained him with Harvey Milk jokes. In the days immediately following the shooting many of the off-duty San Francisco police were seen in public wearing “Free Dan White” T-shirts.

Dan White was tried for two counts of first degree, premeditated murder with special circumstance, a crime which potentially carried the death penalty in California. The jury selected for Dan White’s trial consisted of white middle-class San Franciscans who were mostly Catholic. All gays and ethnic minorities were excused from the jury pool. The impaneled jurors were clearly sympathetic to Dan White and some quietly shed tears as they listened to White’s confession recorded by police investigators who thanked him for his honesty at the conclusion of the interrogation.

Ultimately, Dan White’s defense attorney, Doug Schmidt, alleged that his client was not responsible for his own actions at the time of the two homicides. He argued that White was in a state of diminished capacity at the time of the shootings. “Good people, fine people, with fine backgrounds, simply don’t kill people in cold blood,” he told the jurors. He based his defense on Dan White’s mental anguish resulting from the underhanded manipulative strategy employed by Harvey Milk and others and the fickleness of mayor Moscone who traumatically disappointed and confused him by promising him his job back and then pulling the rug out from beneath him with his plan to appoint Don Horanzy. Schmidt argued to the jurors that White’s depressed and highly agitated state of mind was further exacerbated by a junk food binge the night before the killings and that since White was characteristically noted for being very conscious of his diet, the binge had upset his metabolic equilibrium. The local news media sensationalized this part of White’s defense by terming it “The Twinkie Defense,” however, regardless of how the press portrayed the defense strategy, the jury accepted it, and as Dan White softly wept, the verdict of the jury was announced. Dan White was acquitted of the two first degree murder charges and found guilty of the lesser crime of voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to serve seven years and eight months but the judge reduced the sentence for time served and good behavior and White would become eligible for parole after serving five years. When the verdict was announced by the police dispatcher over the radios in the SFPD patrol cars an unnamed officer with an Irish tenor sang “Danny Boy” on the police band. Harry Britt, Harvey Milk’s successor and Supervisor Carol Ruth Silver publicly condemned the jury’s verdict.

An outraged mob of 3000 homosexuals welled up out of the Castro District and descended on city hall chanting “Avenge Harvey Milk” as they lobbed rocks at the front doors of the building. They shoved a burning newspaper dispenser through the broken doors of the City Hall and set fire to a number of police cars. The chief of police ordered the police not to retaliate, but to hold their ground till the mob spent their anger and dispersed. The police held the line through three hours of rioting before moving in to put an end to it. Later reports claimed than many of the officers had covered their badges with black tape to avoid being identified and attacked the rioters with clubs and tear gas. The rioters aggressively resisted and by the time the rioters were completely dispelled more than 60 police officers had been injured and 24 arrests were made. Several hours after order was restored at City Hall, SFPD patrol cars carrying dozens of police officers headed into the Castro District for an unauthorized raid on a gay bar called the “Elephant Walk.” They shattered the two large front windows of the bar and attacked the patron inside. After successfully subduing everyone in the building the police inside joined a large number of officers outside and together they began attacking gays on the streets of the district. The incident lasted more than two hours until the Chief of Police showed up and ordered his men to leave the area. During the second part of this night’s activity another sixty-one police officers and an estimated one hundred gays were hospitalized with injuries. The press dubbed the violent night as the “White Night Riot.” A civil grand jury convened to find out who ordered the attack, but it ended inconclusively with a settlement covering personal injury claims and damages.

Dan White served five years, one month and nine days for his manslaughter conviction. On October 22, 1985, a year and a half after his release from prison, the 39 year old ex-San Francisco policeman and former member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Dan White, was found dead in a running car parked in his ex-wife’s garage.

California State Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco obviously has no idea what the word “hero” means in the English language. Being shot to death by the victim of your political back-stabbing manipulations does not necessarily qualify somebody as a hero. Harvey Milk was a sexual deviant and participated actively and willingly in his aberrant sexual proclivities with numerous partners, many of whom were under the age of legal consent (some as young as 16), and most of whom he met in bathrooms, public baths and other places frequented by those who ascribe to that lifestyle. Milk’s sexual promiscuity and his fondness for young boys was well known. On the other hand, Daniel J. White was a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War during some of the worst years of that conflict. He served his country in the United States Army with distinction, achieved the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1972. He returned home to San Francisco to work as a police officer, and quit the police department after he stopped another cop from beating a handcuffed black prisoner. His strong sense of fairness compelled him to file a report on this incident despite his commanding officer’s request not to do so in a period of time when such things were never done. After serving as a police officer he went to work for the San Francisco Fire Department and demonstrated his courage and selfless dedication to public service by jeopardizing his own life to rescue a woman and her baby from the blazing seventh-floor apartment of the Geneva Towers. That act of courage was reported by The San Francisco Chronicle. In 1974 when Dan White was accepted into the fire academy, the San Francisco Fire Department begrudgingly complied with a federal consent decree to hire more minorities, however, it was very common for the department to circumvent this consent decree by allowing African Americans into the academy and then using any flimsy excuse to flunk them out. Dan White graduated as the valedictorian of his class and was reported to have stood up for three black trainees who were about to be unwarrantedly eliminated. He circulated a petition asking that they be allowed to remain in the academy, and later tutored the men after classes to help them pass their exams. There is no comparison between the self-serving Harvey Milk, a manipulative political hack and Daniel J. White. Harvey Milk may have been a martyr to the political correctness of left-leaning liberal deviants prior to the time when this nation altered its view of their activities from criminally disgusting to socially acceptable but public perception is all too easily swayed to accept and excuse the immoral acts of deviant minorities. Harvey Milk was far from being a role model while he was alive and he is certainly not a role model now that he is dead and calling him a “hero” is a disgrace to the millions of truly brave and courageous men and women who, at the risk of their own life, have selflessly served their nation and the American public both abroad and at home. Politically, economically and morally, the state of California has been entirely dysfunction for many years and thanks to political hacks such as California State Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco, we will remain in that sorry state for years to come. Rather than wasting the state tax payers hard earned money debating nonsensical issues such as the creation of a Harvey Milk Day, our state representative’s time should be put to much better use by trying to figure out a real solution to the states never-ending growth of government and irresponsible spending. The Golden State of California is leading the entire nation in the downward spiral towards the bottom of the toilet and people like Senator Leno are leading the way down. Common sense has disappeared entirely from California politics and if the citizens of this state don’t demand immediate pragmatic change in this state’s political environment the entire state will soon be bankrupt and our nation will certainly follow shortly behind.

While I do not generally condone or endorse murdering state and local politicians, I can certainly understand their victim’s desire to strike back against manipulative back-stabbing politicians who use unethical and underhanded trickery to adversely affect the personal lives and careers of others. Personally I view Daniel White as a victim of Milk’s self-serving manipulations and I believe we would be better served by creating a Dan White Day to remind all those who demonstrate the propensity to unwarrantedly destroy the lives of others in the effort to further their own personal agendas that serious attempts to ruin others for capricious and unjustified reasons often results in unexpected reactions. Needlessly forcing other people into a corner where they have no possible hope for escape or resolution often results in unexpected and unpleasant consequences, and even good and fair-minded people have a tolerance limit when threatened like in this manner. This is a fact that should be kept in mind by all government workers, supervisors, managers and elected representatives who exercise some measure of authority over the lives of people they do not really know. Dan White should not have killed Mayor Moscone or Harvey Milk. It was the wrong thing to do in every respect, but time did not stop with their deaths and the world went on. The arguments in favor of Dan White’s actions are every bit as compelling as those against him and in the long run he may have done the state and the people of California a favor.

Buried Beneath A Veritable Avalanche Of Liberal Bull

The compromise package of $789 billion will create or save 3.5 million jobs over the next two years.”
SOURCE: Statement contained in the February 17th, 2009, White House press briefing

“Payroll employment declined by 598,000 in January, bringing the total job loss since the recession began in December 2007 to 3.6 million. This is the largest 13-month job loss since the payroll employment series began in 1939.”
SOURCE: The Press Office Statement on January Employment Numbers from Christina D. Romer, Chair, President’s Council of Economic Advisers

“Today we learned that our economy lost another 651,000 jobs in February, bringing the unemployment rate to 8.1 percent. 4.4 million Americans have now lost their jobs since this recession began.”
SOURCE: The Press Office Statement by the Secretary Of Labor Regarding the Monthly Employment Situation Report, by Secretary Hilda L. Solis

The source of the information given below comes from the monthly report on economic indicators for April, 2009. This report was prepared for the 111th U.S. Congress by the Joint Economic Committee by the Council of Economic Advisers. For the sake of comparison I have thrown in the last two months of the Bush Administration and it should be noted that the report shows that when Bush first entered office the unemployment rate was at 4.7 and grew to an overall increase of 2.5 in a slow and gradual increase spread out across his two terms of office to a high of 7.2 indicated for December 2008 as shown below. Since Obama first entered office in January, 2009 the unemployment rate has shot up from 7.6 to 8.9 indicating a 1.3 overall increase in a brief period of les than four months. If the unemployment rate continues to accelerate at a rate of 1.3% every quarter over the maximum two terms of office than Obama can serve, we can expect that, by the time he leaves office, the unemployment rate in the United States will be somewhere around 46.1% and nearly half the population of the country will be without jobs.

Bush Administration
In November 2008, there were 10,476,000 people unemployed and the unemployment rate was 6.8 In December 2008, there were 11,108,000 people unemployed and the unemployment rate was 7.2

Obama Administration
In January 2009, there were 11,616,000 people unemployed and the unemployment rate was 7.6
In February 2009, there were 12,467,000 people unemployed and the unemployment rate was 8.2
In March 2009, there were 13,161,000 people unemployed and the unemployment rate was 8.5
In April 2009, there were 13,724,000 people unemployed and the unemployment rate was 8.9

The reports from the Joint Economic Committee by the Council of Economic Advisers for June have not been released but the current unemployment rate has been approximated at 10.5%. The simple fact is that nobody cares who is at fault for any of this, the American president does not create jobs, they are created by business and a healthy business climate creates more jobs than political rhetoric. When the government attacks large corporations and big businesses they are attacking the American people who depend on large corporations and big businesses for employment and income. When the government does not enforce border security they allow illegal aliens to come here and take jobs needed by the American people. Immigration enforcement is not discrimination, its law enforcement and enforcing the laws that protect American citizens is a benefit to all of us as well as to the nation.

In case there is someone out there who isn’t aware of it, George Bush is no longer the President of the U.S., the responsibility for the state of this nation’s affairs now rests with Barack Obama, so he should quit blaming Bush and get his act together, or shut up and get out of the way so somebody else can fix the problems correctly.

“We have to make sure that there’s a verification system to find out whether somebody is legally able to work here or not. But we have to make sure that that verification system does not discriminate just because you’ve got a Hispanic last name”
Barack Obama at Costa Mesa Town Hall meeting – Costa Mesa, California
March 18, 2009

Barack Obama has consistently harped about job creation during his numerous speeches, but while he is talking the number of America’s legal residents getting laid off increases dramatically and the number of illegal aliens employed by American companies continues to climb. Obama has repeatedly stated that securing the nation’s borders is an important priority and he has repeatedly promised to increase the use of the E-Verify program to identify and punish employers hiring illegal aliens. If he actually did as he has repeatedly promised the companies now hiring illegal aliens would decrease and the number of jobs available to the legal residents of this country would increase. The unemployed legal residents of this nation are becoming desperate. They cannot pay their bills or feed their families and increasing numbers are being forced out of their homes by foreclosure. American citizens with advanced academic degrees, individuals qualified for positions with law firms, and graduates with a Master’s degree and PhD’s are jumping at the opportunity to fill low-paying positions as secretaries, analysts, retail sales and low-skilled laborers. Unfortunately the opportunity for them to fill even the low end jobs are limited because Obama has put off the full implementation of the E-Verify program four times already and there is no telling if it will ever be fully implemented. Furthermore, with the U.S. Congress becoming more and more vocal about immigration reform and amnesty, the full implementation of the E-Verify program might end up getting dumped altogether as congress legitimizes the approximate 20 million illegal aliens now in this country and reforms out current immigration laws to allow for then next 20 million behind them.

Currently the E-Verify program is the only tool available. It may not be perfect but it does work very well and the ridiculously small numbers of errors made are avoidable and represent a small problem that is well worth the cost of making the jobs now taken by this nation’s 20 million illegal aliens, available to American citizens now facing financial disaster. The program should be immediately implemented nationwide and made mandatory for every company regardless of size. Data errors are not systematic efforts to discriminate, they are data errors, plain and simple, the computers don’t know what color a person might be, it only knows that the data doesn’t jive and it reports the facts based on the information fed into it. Further delay is unacceptable and as Obama has been known to say in the past, “We can’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good.” The E-Verify program works – implement it and fix the little problems later.

The United States government was designed as a form of government whose authority comes from the American people it serves, however, instead of serving the best interests of the American people our Washington DC politicians are serving their own agenda and the beneficiary of what little they do is the highest bidder among the special interest groups filling their campaign treasuries.

Every fractional graduation of the broadcast spectrum, whether it be radio, television, satellite, cable or microwave is controlled by one or agencies of the United States Government. Beyond the Internet, every aspect of public communication is subject to government regulation, permitting requirements and the ever increasing pressure of censors who are all to willing to overlook pornography but are highly sensitive to anything that might be even remotely considered as being politically incorrect as defined by the cognoscenti of modern liberal orthodoxy. The American people are informed only to the degree and nature deemed appropriate while sweeping changes, legislative actions, foreign policy modifications and trade deals are proposed, debated, rejected, passed, implemented and modified in countless ways behind the secrecy of closed doors and we the people, the very people from whom our government derives its authority to act, are told nothing and remain largely ignorant. The primary pursuit of government officials in the United States today is to keep the American people entertained and distracted by a never-ending supply of extravagant “vitally important” issues while our formerly inalienable rights and freedoms are systematically stripped away, the free market democracy is dismantled and the entire system of government it transformed into a socialist tyranny capable of controlling every aspect of modern life. It is evidently the determination of the controlling power that the best way to achieve that ultimate goal is to make life in America so difficult that the American people willingly welcome any proposal that offers the slightest degree of hope for beneficial change. Informed people will resist changes to ease government inflicted hardships and would fight to change the government officials responsible for their suffering. Uniformed people will tend to see their suffering as the result of circumstances beyond their control and beyond the control of their government. They will be more inclined to accept any hope offered even if that hope is false and the change brings on greater adversity.

Immigration reform and amnesty are being sold by the current crop of politicians as an economic and moral necessity, the only viable solution to a pressing problem of great importance to the American people. The actual problem is the creation of a U.S. government whose refusal to enforce the immigration laws that were enacted to protect our nation from being inundated with illiterate, criminally inclined, free-loaders with few redeeming values has allowed more than 20 million illegal invaders the ability to come here, take our jobs, purchase the homes we are being forced out of and victimize the American people who are easy prey to foreign predators. The government’s proposed solution is to legalize the presence of these invaders and make it easier for others like them to enter the country and we are being told by most politicians and every newspaper and television new show that it is the right and moral thing to do, and as American, it is our obligation. The fact that it will increase every legal resident’s tax burden, sharply increase the crime rate and further erode the American way of life is not a subject that we will hear much, if anything, about. Those facts are entirely evident and yet that information is not being relayed to the American people because it might muddy the water and make the government’s goal harder to attain.

The union officials, the Parent Teacher Associations and all the other special interest groups out there are fighting for political power in Washington DC, they are not fighting for you. In the short term you might gain some small benefit but in the long term you lose everything because you’re not thinking about the long term consequences of the short term solutions they offer. When you lose your job, your kids are going hungry and the U.S. Marshalls are nailing an eviction notice to your front door, the union won’t be there to help you and the PTA won’t be rushing to your side. The government will do nothing for you when your foreclosed home is sold off to some illegal alien for less than half what you paid for it and you will be lucky to have a shopping cart to push your stuff around in if you have anything left at all. Believe it or not, that is all part of the grand plan that you voted for when you bought into “Change” without asking for details.

Wake up America! Pull your head out of your ass and look around you. Instead of sitting on that sway-backed couch staring at the simple-minded garbage the television broadcast networks are using to deaden your brains get up and go outside, drive to the drugstore, the market, count the people who pay for their food with the government subsidized allowance cards that you don’t qualify for, and all else, look at what is going on around you. Go sit in an emergency room some Friday night and see who comes through the door to get stiched up without any insurance. Go drive through the slums and see for yourself who lives there. You should be interested enough to find out since you are paying for most of them to be here. Quit accepting lies and start demanding the truth in every minute detail. Go outside and take a hard look at what the most powerful nation the planet has ever known has become, and consider what it could be if you quit paying attention to the nightly propaganda broadcasts of government sponsored lies and actually started thinking about the consequences of the repeatedly voting for the same bunch of self-serving jackasses you’ve already voted for in the past. Instead of letting other people tell you what to think based on their agenda and the political needs of whoever they represent, try thinking about the implications for you, your family, your future, the future of your children and your nation. Instead of voting for everyone listed on the union leaflet or the PTA circular, vote against them, because they are the candidates that have got us to where we are, and they are the future politicians who will deliver us to the Hell that the future holds in store for you and your kids. Think for yourself, it’s not all that painful, throw a brick through the television screen and chuck it in the trash where it belongs; you might save yourself a ton of grief in the process.

Pelosi – The Best California Has To Offer?

Posted in California - Politics & Government on May 16th, 2009 by MorningStar

Nancy Pelosi is the current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, she also ranks third in the line of presidential succession making her the highest-ranking female politician in United States history, and since 1987 she has represented the 8th Congressional District of California covering four-fifths of the City and County of San Francisco, California. The area that Nancy Pelosi represents has long been considered a safe harbor for Democratic politicians. Democratic politicians have maintained a position of superiority throughout the area since 1949. With a scant 13% of the district’s population registered as Republicans, no Democratic candidate running in the state’s 8th Congressional District has faced a serious challenge for many years. In fact the 8th Congressional District is so safe for Democrats that during the June 2, 1987 special election that first landed Pelosi in the U.S. Congress she needed no campaign funds to easily defeat her Republican opponent.

Pelosi may be the nation’s most powerful female politician and she may exert the strongest influence currently existing within the Democratic National Party, but after a political career noted by her willing and conscious acceptance of illegal campaign donations in 2002, successfully pushing through earmark legislation to benefit her advisor and former campaign treasurer at the expense of the American tax payers in 2003, excessive use of tax payer funds for her own personal benefit especially noted by her unrestrained use of military transport planes while flying back and forth between California and Washington D.C., her viciously vindictive and divisive attacks on fellow Democrats, and the fact that her obvious lies about the CIA’s use of water boarding have clearly demonstrated her lack of appreciation for honesty and truthfulness, is sufficient to make many California voter’s wonder if simply being a “Democrat” is qualification enough, or the possibility that California would be better represented by someone with a bit more integrity.

The state of California is on the verge of bankruptcy because of the overabundance of lying, spendthrift politicians the population of that state have elected to represent them in Sacramento, and the entire nation is in economic tatters following decades of leadership, both Democratic and Republican, by politicians more concerned with their own personal welfare and position than they are with the welfare of the American people. In 2008, the American people voted for “Change,” and up to this point in time we have only seen more of the same snaky political dealings, political doublespeak, broken promises and outright lies.

The Democrats point their fingers of blame at the Republicans, the Republicans point their fingers at the Democrats and meanwhile, American burns and the American people suffer, taxes loom larger, the money we earn is worth less and less while the cost of living flies over the horizon, and the American dream is no longer based on the opportunity to turn sweat into prosperity, but on the free meals, the government subsidized housing and the free college tuitions that one half of the country is forced to supply to the other half.

Adding insult to injury, perched atop the great heaped-up piles of government waste that each of us must work four or five months out of every year to finance, sits Nancy Pelosi, like a huge bloated, self-indulgent toad, releasing duplicitous statements of scorn and condemnation through Botox inflated lips mounted on a face that closely resembles some kids overused paper sack filled with marbles.

All Californian’s should be asking if this is the best the “Golden State” has to offer. Is this lying advertisement for pathetic plastic surgery the best representative for the people of California or is it just possible that we could do better by carefully selecting a candidate on the basis of that person’s integrity, honesty and truthfulness.

As a state, California has lead the nation for years, and even in these stressful times the people of this state have the capacity to understand right from wrong, good from bad and the dire need for decent and honest leadership to fill the moral vacuum in a nation’s capital where all of the human characteristics formerly considered decent and good are now considered as indicators of the desperately naive. Is it possible that the people of California could start the ball rolling in Washington D.C. by replacing one pathological, self-serving liar with an individual of real character? Would the people of other states sit up and take notice; is it possible that they might even follow the example, electing a similar decent representative from their own state? The effect might be slow to take root, but it is possible, and the change that so many hoped for when they elected the current phony might actually be achieved at long last.

I suppose the real question is, are the people of California willing to take the first step? Obviously, nobody in California would be adversely impacted by the elimination of Nancy Pelosi. That human equivalent to a really bad-tempered Shar Pei could easily retire to her California home with her $25 million and dissolve into obscurity without being missed. The only interests she serves are her own and the gamble would be extremely slight. Maybe the real question should be “what do we have to gain?”

Torture? What Torture?

Posted in California - Politics & Government, Labor Unions, Politics & Government on April 17th, 2009 by MorningStar

Barack Hussein Obama, in his never-ending quest to make former President Bush appear like the biggest monster since Dr. Mengele, released a collection of secret Justice Department documents providing guidance to the CIA on how far it could go to extract information from terrorism suspects. These documents are currently being portrayed by the liberal media as the most detailed account to date of the shockingly horrible “tortures” employed by the CIA against Al Qaeda terrorists in secret prisons around the world. The entire list of these ten despicable torture techniques follows below, and after carefully reading both the documents released as well as the news accounts describing those documents, the only response I can muster is “So what.” I am not particularly upset by any of the techniques described and can truthfully say that if anything about this upsets me then it is the fact that, despite all the liberal caterwauling, the CIA was given the opportunity to squeeze those terrorist scumbags for all they were worth and these are the worst “torture” techniques they could come up with. Other than the mild form of water boarding practiced, there is nothing in the list below that was not routinely practiced on American military recruits back when drill instructors were still allowed to shape worthless hunks of human flesh into American soldiers capable of surviving the combat situations they might encounter around the globe. I would swear that the last four items on the list were taken directly from my own mother’s creative techniques for responsible parenting, and while she was not strong enough to “wall” any of her three sons, my dad had that technique down to a fine art even if he did neglect the part about selecting flexible walls. He used my oldest brother to begin the expansion our dining room one afternoon and that old lathe and plaster wall didn’t flex a bit when my brother’s 250 pound body failed to bounce and the plaster came tumbling down. Oddly enough, I don’t remember thinking that torture techniques were being used right in front of me at the time, but then again, my views on torture tend to be somewhat more extreme than mere physical discomfort.

Water Boarding – Everybody knows what water boarding is by now but the practice as it was used in these instances was fairly mild (I could say it was sort of a “watered down” version), this was limited to twenty minute sessions.

Stress Positions – Forcing the individual to sit on the floor with legs straight out and arms extended in front with palms up for extended periods

Walling – The individual is physically bounced off a flexible wall made of plywood, neck protection is provided

Sleep Deprivation – Keeping the individual awake for prolonged periods via noise, lights and so on.

Cramped Confinement – Confinement in a dark box that is just large enough to allow the individual to sit down.

Insects – See above and add a bug such as a caterpillar or cockroach

Wall Standing – Forcing the individual to stand facing a wall, similar to being put in a corner

Facial Slap – The standard smack upside the head with an open hand

Attention Grasp – Grasping the individual’s shoulders with both hands in a quick manner so as to get their attention

Facial Hold – Grasping the individuals head with both hands to fix their focus on the interrogator

Barack Hussein Obama may think that by exposing these practices he has ended a “dark and painful chapter in our history,” but in my opinion the man is either entirely naive or expertly divisive and I tend to lean toward the latter a lot more than the former. It is becoming more and more apparent as time goes on that Barack Hussein Obama is a clueless jackass and his only hope for re-election in 2012 hinges on his ability to continuously smear every possible or potential opponent between now and then.

If he really wanted to witness water boarding as a form of torture he should have asked the Mexican president to have the federal cops in Tijuana demonstrate their water boarding technique. They us a bottle of carbonated soda thoroughly shaken and inserted directly into the nostril as a method for expand the mind of their interrogation subjects, and when they are in a real hurry, they do it while the poor soul has a pair of jumper cables hooked to his balls and a maniac cranks wildly on the generator. The federal cops in Tijuana know that if a little bit is good then a lot must be better so they aren’t too concerned with “sessions” and are happy to keep this sort of party going on for hours and hours and hours.

Going by the list that was disclosed, it is safe to say that the CIA did not practice torture on terrorists. They may have made them feel extremely uncomfortable but they didn’t actually torture them. Torture is having wooden wedges hammered up under your fingernails or toenails until they pop off. Torture is having the skin flayed off of your body before being rolled in salt. Torture is having your foot cooked to a black crisp by some nut holding a propane torch to it, or having your head slowly smashed in a large vise. Being forced to stand in corner facing a wall for a few hours is not torture and neither is getting smacked upside the head by a open hand. You might not like it happening to you but it is far from being torture, and any claim that such actions are torture is well beyond the normally acceptable level of stupidity.

Personally I think that listening to Obama lie on public television is torture but it is slightly less torturous than having to listen to Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid and I would gladly allow myself to be subjected to CIA water boarding rather than sitting though a couple of hours of Barbara Boxer. What the CIA did to terrorists while they were interrogating them is not shocking, surprising or shameful to anyone other than a self-serving liberal twit with a serious axe to grind and I hope they get over it soon because I am sick of listening to their whining.

Honestly, if Obama wants transperency why doesn’t he start by releasing a copy of his Kenyan birth certificate?

Barack’s Orange County Adventure

Posted in California - Politics & Government, Labor Unions, Politics & Government on March 19th, 2009 by MorningStar

Like pilgrims flocking into Mecca for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, hordes of California’s guilty white liberals (GWL) aimed their Beamers, their Mercedes and their Cadillac SUVs, and even a few Toyota Prius hybrids at Costa Mesa Wednesday afternoon where they could bask in the blinding radiance of America’ pop-star in chief, Barack the Omnipotent. Gag me with a stick.

While many have linguistically gushed all over themselves at the seemingly miraculous visitation of the blessed one, I haven’t heard anyone ask the question that really begs asking. Costa Mesa is 3000 miles from the focal point of the economic meltdown and even if the state of California is headed to economic Hell in a hand basket of it’s own design, it is far removed from the Washington D.C. boardrooms where tap-dancing lobbyists negotiate with congressional legislators over who get the bigger chunk of pie. Other than a massive boatload of state spending, unrealistic social welfare programs, increasing home foreclosures and the most unfriendly environment in the nation for business owners, there isn’t anything especially important going on in the soon to be bankrupt “Golden” state of California. In short – California is not part of the solution, if anything, the Great Seal of California could be used as a symbol for the entire problem.

Essentially, Barack the Wonderful burned up all of that jet fuel to stand before a massive crowd of adoring worshipers, bask in his own sense of glorious accomplishment, distract attention from the bottom line of the bailout invoice as it rapidly approaches the $10 trillion dollar mark, and drop a few more meaningless comments and empty promises on the American public while his liberal elitist cronies back home finish looting everything of value. Considering the fact that, not so long ago this was irrefutably the richest nation on Earth and it may take awhile to pick it clean, Obama needs to keep his eye on 2012 in the off chance that the Democrats need another four years to complete the job. After all, his genius is campaigning, and that is all the man is really good at. When he steps out from behind the smoke and mirrors resembling his administration the true nature of his government transparency becomes evident and the man disappears like a puff of smoke in a high wind.

Addressing the issue of the $165 million in bonuses snatched up by AIG executives, Obama said, “I know Washington is all in a tizzy and everybody is pointing fingers at each other and saying it’s their fault, the Democrats’ fault, the Republicans’ fault. Listen, I’ll take responsibility. I’m the president.” He smiled at the crowd, and instead of high stepping him to the nearest tree where the rope waited to punish this incompetence, they melted in forgiveness and brushed the whole matter aside as just being a minor snafu on the yellow brick lined road to the big picture in the distance. When you’re talking about a $10 trillion dollar haul, $165 million could be the chump change forgotten between the cushions of the old sofa sent to Goodwill. $165 million dollars is only a lot of money when you compare it to your annual income or the balance in your checking account, but you could drop it onto a $10 trillion dollar pile and not even notice the difference. Obama can afford to dismiss it as insignificant; he can easily take responsibility for it and smile. The goofy liberals can easily smile and forgive him because they haven’t yet been hit with their share of the bill. For a group that is so emotionally overwrought by the mere thought of what this year’s accumulation of greenhouse gases will have on the environment 100 years down the road this may seem fairly inconsistent, but then again, logic has never been the liberal’s primary talent.

On the second day of his California visit he spent some time touring what Southern California Edison calls their electric-vehicle test facility in Pomona. Southern California Edison maintains a fleet of Toyota RAV4s and 20 Ford Escape Hybrid sport utility vehicles that have been converted to electricity. SCE has been dabbling in electric cars for about ten or fifteen years but their efforts have been less than stupendous. After conversion to battery power, the Ford Escape SUVs in their fleet only manage a twenty mile range from their highly toxic and potentially explosive lithium ion battery packs.

During his campaign, Obama promised to put 1 million plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles on US roads by 2015 and today he was impressed by the show put on for him by SCE and announced that the Department of Energy would be launching a $2 billion competitive grant program under the Recovery Act that will spark manufacturers to produce the batteries and parts for electric cars while putting thousands of Americans back to work. If he had of checked his fact beforehand he might have been a little more reserved with his comments. Currently there is only one American battery manufacturer producing lithium-ion batteries and those batteries are made in Asian facilities that are subsidized by Asian governments. The environmental regulations in the United States make it very unlikely that a permit to mass produce lithium-ion batteries here would ever be issued and I seriously doubt that Obama will turn his back on the tree huggers in his own party to get it done. When you get right down to it, $2 billion dollars wouldn’t pay the permitting, licensing and construction costs of one factory. As I said, logic has never been the liberal’s primary talent.

As far as this Californian is concerned, the less time Obama spends fixing this state’s problems the better off we will be. We have enough goofy liberals of our own without him adding to the mix.

California Disaster Looming

Posted in California - Politics & Government on February 13th, 2009 by MorningStar

In Southern California 25,024 homes were repossessed in the first quarter 2008. That is a 316.7% increase over the number of homes repossessed in the same quarter of 2007, and the number of homes currently facing foreclosure has virtually exploded in the end of the first quarter of 2009 approaches. It is estimated that only 32% of the homeowners in the state manage to prevent foreclosure following receipt of the first default notice from their finance company. While there are no accurate records in the state to rely on, it is estimated that nearly 80% of the mortgages for homes purchased in the last six to eight years are currently upside down, that is, the owner owes more on the house than it’s current market value. Most of these home owners purchased their homes at the start of the real estate boon and refinanced later when the value of their property nearly doubled. Now that the bubble has popped and the value of their home has drastically fallen, they are sitting there with a $500,000 mortgage on a house that is only worth around $200,000, if they could find someone who is willing to buy it even at that price. No bank will consider loaning them money for a refinance when the value of the house is less than the debt owned on it and if the owner gets to the point where payments can’t be made the only option is to let the finance company have the property back and write the whole thing off as a total loss. This is a pretty devastating situation for anyone facing it in a state where the cost of renting a place to live is nearly as high as the cost of owning, and in a state where 1.7 million people are currently unemployed and the unemployment rate is quickly rising past the record high 9.3% with no end in sight, the families that are affected by this tragedy are beyond what you would consider being simply “devastated,” they are crushed into a bloody pulp.

Every week hundreds of highly educated, well motivated young California families are being pushed into the street with no place to go and nowhere to turn. They are being laid-off from their jobs by the thousands, their savings have dwindled down to nothing, they’ve tapped out their 401Ks, their creditors are hounding them and the finance company is threatening foreclosure. They have cut everything they can cut from their budgets and they don’t know how they will manage to put food on the table for their kids. They scrape up enough money to put gas in the car so they can go job hunting but every place they go they find 200 other applicants in the same desperate straits.

A study in the Western Journal of Medicine indicates that California is undergoing a near epidemic scale of male suicides and is now sitting at nearly 3% over the national average. The study also noted a 18.9% increase in suicide among males over 65 years old which also represents the second hardest hit demographic group in the state’s downward spiraling economy as millions of newly retired baby boomers find themselves facing a bleak future after their retirement investments quickly disappeared thanks to the recent stock market collapse. Few made the connection between the increased number of suicides in California and the growing oppression caused by the state’s economic problems until the last few months of news coverage began carrying news about unrelated incidents of murder/suicide in the golden state where entire families, beset with intractable financial problems, ended in tragedy. On Christmas Eve recently terminated man killed his ex-wife and eight of her relatives before killing himself; in Yorba Linda, a 41 year old Orland Cho, shot and killed his 39-year-old wife and their children ages 9, 8 and 5 before killing himself with a shotgun blast to the head. The Cho’s 14-year-old son was wounded in the incident but later recovered; a Los Angeles man shot and killed his wife and five children before killing himself; in the San Fernando Valley a man killed his wife, three sons and mother-in-law while they slept in their beds before turning the gun on himself; five members of a Turkish-American family were found dead in an upscale San Clemente as a result of a suicide pact, and the list of victims continues to grow as the collateral damage from California’s failing economy unfolds.

Meanwhile, California’s oversupply of truly hack politicians are announcing that they have finally arrived on the scene of the devastating economic forest fire and they are armed with huge buckets of high-octane gasoline and assurances to their constituents that they will quickly quench the flames and put everything back in order. They intend to take the formerly golden state from it’s current position as the seventh most heavily taxed state to the pinnacle of being the number one most heavily taxed state in the nation and their Governor Schwarzenegger, the same turkey who ran on a “No New Taxes” campaign stance, is leading the bucket brigade for massive tax increases in a state where the spending budget has increased in size more than 30% over the last 5 years.

While California’s already heavily tax burdened and despondent citizens are committing suicide in record numbers as they face astronomical unemployment rates and off-the-chart home foreclosure rates, the state legislators are priming the tax pump to make matters even more desperate than they already are by adding another 1 percentage point to the already high sales tax, doubling the fee for licensing vehicles, increasing the gas tax to a whopping 47 cents per gallon, jacking up the state’s income tax across the board, adding a 5% surcharge on all delinquent tax debts and cutting back the dependent tax credit from $300 to $100. As if any of this were not bad enough, the Sacramento brain trust has also announced an open season on specific groups they have targeted for further hardship and destruction by eliminating the cost-of-living increase for senior citizens and disabled people receiving Supplemental Security Income and State Supplementary Payments. This should prove to be pretty disastrous for California’s senior citizens, many of whom are already on a diet of cat food and whatever they can dig out of the local grocery store dumpster. It would be more humane to simply round them up and gas them to death in concentration camps than to subject them to the long slow process of inevitable starvation on the streets. But then again, rounding them up would cost more than the California legislators are willing to spend and it might cut into the money they’ve set aside to fund educational programs for illegal aliens, no-interest home loans for illegal aliens and political organizing drives for (you guessed it) illegal aliens.

Despite a recent court decision stating that California will either have to improve the medical care in it’s prisons or start releasing inmates in massive numbers, the legislators have cut funding for medical care in the state prisons. The thinking there seems to be that the thousands of violent felons released onto California’s streets will be kept so busy picking off the homeless senior citizens and victims of foreclosure that they will never realize that the really lucrative targets are the state employees and politicians. Hopefully, some grass roots organization will start up an educational program to redirect these wayward criminals to targets of greater value in Sacramento.

California serves as the nation’s parakeet. What happens here inevitably spreads out across the entire country. California’s political stupidity, wasteful spending and it’s associated consequences are already being seen in other locations around the nation as the infection spreads out. By the time it is laying still in the bottom of its cage it will be too late and if the truth be told it is probably already too late for the rest of the nation.

Los Angeles deserves better than Villaraigosa

Posted in California - Politics & Government on February 2nd, 2009 by MorningStar

The city of Los Angeles deserves better than Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. It is the largest city in the western United States and the second largest city in the nation. Los Angeles covers an area of nearly 500 square miles and has a population that is pushing 4 million people. It is the seat of Los Angeles County which is the most populated and diverse counties in the country. Los Angeles is one of the world’s leading centers of business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, technology, and education. It is home to many well known institutions covering a broad range of professional and cultural fields, and it is one of the most substantial economic engines within the United States.

In 2007 the Los Angeles combined statistical area has a gross metropolitan product of $697.9 billion, making it the second largest economic center in the Western Hemisphere (New York City being the first) and if the Los Angeles combined statistical area were a country, its economy would rank 17th in the world in terms of nominal GDP.

The city of Los Angeles clearly plays an important part in the welfare of our nation’s economy and it should have a mayor running it that is, unlike Antonio Villaraigosa, dedicated to seeing the job done properly and to the benefit of the legal residents and American citizens who live there.

While a member of the California state Assembly, Antonio Villaraigosa wrote an impassioned plea to then President Bill Clinton on behalf of convicted cocaine dealer Carlos Vignali Jr. That letter was considered instrumental in former President Clinton’s decision to grant Vignali Jr. clemency from his 15 year sentence for selling cocaine. It later came out that the granting of clemency occurred after payments were made to Clinton’s brother-in-law, Hugh Rodham, the brother of former first lady. Villaraigosa’s mayoral campaign was tainted by a $47,000 campaign contribution from the employees at two Florida gift-shop companies whose owner, Sean Anderson, was seeking lucrative concession contracts at Los Angeles International Airport. Despite his apparent problems with ethics, the deaf, dumb and blind voters of Los Angeles went ahead and put him in the mayor’s office and Antonio Villaraigosa took over the mayor’s job in May 17, 2005. As if to make up for, or somehow undo, his own snarky actions, Villaraigosa’s first act as mayor was to require all city commissioners, his entire staff, and all city employees to sign an ethics pledge. Once a hack, always a hack.

One of Villaraigosa’s campaign pledges was to make Los Angeles the greenest city in America, but as anyone who has ever been there can easily tell you, it is far from being green. Maybe if you compare Los Angeles to Tijuana it might look a little green but when you get right down to it, it would be tough to say if the city is green or not because it is so well camouflaged under the mountains of trash that litter the streets. Of course I should point out that the trash only covers the horizontal spaces that aren’t taken up by the homeless encampments. All the vertical areas are covered with graffiti and billboards. As if to demonstrate their environmental concern, the Los Angeles mayor and the entire Los Angeles city council, with few exceptions, ride around in some of the most massive, gas guzzling SUVs ever manufactured by Detroit. During the long dry summer of 2007 Villaraigosa challenged Los Angeles residents to slash their water use by 10% while he and his family used up 177,716 more gallons of water than the average expected for their Mount Washington home and the hapless mayor blamed the waste on gophers chewing holes through the rubber tubing on his drip-irrigation system.

Another of Villaraigosa’s campaign pledges was to extend the Purple Line subway down Wilshire Boulevard to Santa Monica. The “Subway to the Sea” project is no further along today that it was then and the people of Santa Monica are delighted about it. They never wanted the crowds from Los Angeles roaming around their city anyway.

Villaraigosa also pledged to continue James Hahn’s dedication to public safety by significantly decreasing the Los Angeles crime rate every year and whether or not he has done anything in this regard is a matter for serious debate. Certainly the LA police department assures us that crime has dropped in the city, but they are also the ones who claimed that illegal alien gangbangers were not purposely targeting African Americans. If there has been a drop in L.A.’s crime rate it is news to the family of four year old Roberto Lopez Jr. who was shot to death by gang members two weeks ago a few dozen feet from the place a 9 year old girl was shot to death by gang members two years ago. All totaled there were 381 murders in Los Angeles during 2008, and while that may be a slight reduction from 2007, it is nothing to brag about. In 2008, there were also 786 rapes, 13,354 robberies, 11,993 aggravated assaults, 19,402 burglaries, 22,268 car thefts; 29,870 property thefts from vehicles and 27,112 personal thefts that managed to get counted and there is every indication that Los Angeles is still not the sort of place where you can safely walk the streets at night unless you are carrying seriously heavy firepower.

Of all the things Villaraigosa has done for (or to) Los Angeles, the former card carrying MEChA member, has made the city the single largest attraction for illegal aliens entering the U.S., and Los Angeles boasts the nation’s highest concentration of impoverished and uneducated illegal aliens anywhere and the city’s distinctly unfriendly attitude towards business and sky high unemployment rate ensures that they will remain impoverished and uneducated. While the city’s current mayor probably feels that he is a shoe in for the election because of his good image in the Latino community of Los Angeles, the fact of the matter is that because of his continuing encouragement of illegal aliens and his support for L.A. sanctuary policy, the population of illegal alien gang members in Los Angeles has grown completely out of proportion and along with that increase in gang members has come an increase in gang related crime that affects the minority communities more than anywhere else in the city. If the Latino citizens of Los Angeles ever hope to rise above the level of their trash-filled and crime ridden barrio streets then they need to elect a leader that leads instead of one that merely panders to the vocal activists.

Los Angeles could be a lot more than it currently is, but not under the leadership of a political hack like Villaraigosa. Instead of driving the city’s businesses and jobs down to Riverside County with outrageous taxes, permitting fees and licensing fees for everything under the sun, Los Angeles should be encouraging businesses to thrive so that more people can find jobs and start living the American dream. Instead of wasting every dime they get their hands on, the city of Los Angeles should have the best highway system on the planet, excellent law enforcement and crime free streets that you can walk on without fear of getting shot by a carload of thugs fresh in from Tijuana. We could have all of this and more if we could just get rid of people like Villaraigosa and get people in city hall who will spend their time here doing what is right for the people of Los Angeles.

When you get right down to it the people of Los Angeles are no different than people everywhere else. They struggle to make ends meet and hope for a better life for their children in the future. They work hard to give their families the sort of life they think they should have and they want their spouse and their children to be safe from victimization by predatory criminals. The people of Los Angeles deserve decent public leaders and not the ambitious part-time leadership of a political climber with his eyes on a better job in Sacramento. The people of Los Angeles deserve better than Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and all like him and hopefully, on March 3, 2009, they turn out at the polls for a general house cleaning.
