Immigration War News – From Behind The Enemy Lines

Posted in Illegal Aliens & Immigration Reforms on June 21st, 2008 by MorningStar

McCain Panders While the American Economy Bleeds

While the overwhelming majority of American citizens adamantly oppose anything that looks, smells or behaves like amnesty for this nation’s estimated 20 to 30 million parasitic illegal aliens the leading contenders of both primary political parties are promising everything under the sun to the radical Hispanic activists in the effort to win their support during the upcoming presidential election.  No where was this pandering made clearer than in Chicago, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 when John McCain Quietly slipped into a meeting with 150 Chicago-area Hispanic leaders to assure them that, if elected, he would push through Congress legislation to overhaul federal immigration law.  There was none of the “I get the picture” talk that he put out earlier in his attempt to placate the conservative anti-immigration opponents who were outraged by his alliance with Ed Kennedy on the Senate amnesty bill that failed so miserably.  McCain was present for one reason, and that was to assure the Chicago-area Hispanic leaders that he would do everything feasible to cast aside the will of the American people and shove amnesty down their throats no matter what the cost or how much hardship they might have to suffer as a result.

While John McCain’s camp did everything they could to keep this meeting as low key as possible, the Obama campaign workers jumped on it right away. Both McCain and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama support giving legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, but neither has made the issue a centerpiece of the campaign and the Obama camp was quick to realize an opportunity that could cost McCain a few votes come election day.  Obviously, there are few true conservatives who are overjoyed with John McCain, and 99% of them are struggling to overcome the gag reflex stimulated by the very thought of actually voting for the character, but it will be a truly rare conservative who would opt to vote for Obama because no matter how distasteful John McCain might be, at least he has a few conservative ideas bouncing around in his otherwise empty head, and that is a lot more than anyone can say about the rabid socialist he is running against.

Remittances Down

Illegal aliens working in the United States are less money back to Mexico and it is beginning to cause some concern among Mexican economists.  In 2007, illegal aliens in the U.S. sent more than $24 billion home to Mexico.  As a source of foreign revenue, the money from illegal aliens working in the U.S. is second only to the money that Mexico makes from its nationalized oil industry.  However, according to Mexico’s central bank, remittances dropped 2.37 percent in the first four months of this year and the Mexican economic analysts are blaming that the downturn in the American construction industry.  The U.S. construction industry supplied jobs and income to large numbers of illegal aliens across the nation until the recent downturn in the American housing market. By hiring illegal aliens, the American construction firms could eliminate the need to hire the more costly skilled union workers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and gain a competitive advantage over the larger companies that still honored their union contracts.  While the employment of illegal aliens by the construction industry has had a disastrous affect on the American middle class for whom the good union construction jobs was a means to support millions of American families, it has been a blessing to the people of Mexico and other Latin American countries who have grown dependent on remittances.

To put this in some sort of orderly perspective – The illegal aliens sneak into this country and get hired by fly-by-night building contractors, putting skilled American craftsmen out of work and more reputable contracting firms out of business.  Houses are churned out in record numbers, of course the construction is mostly sub-standard, but after the dry-wall and stucco is applied the defects will take years to surface.  So many houses are built that the demand begins to fall off and the market begins to slump.  The fly-by-night contractors file bankruptcy and dump their illegal alien employees on the street where they join the unemployed American skilled craftsmen they put out of work and the nation’s unemployment rate soars off into the stratosphere.  The American economy tanks under the weight of former good wage earners now living on their MasterCards and social welfare programs while the U.S. Congress votes to spend more money on benefits to illegal aliens than it has tax money to cover and we are supposed to feel sorry for the poor slobs in Mexico and Nicaragua because they aren’t getting as big a slice of the American pie as they would like.

Antonio Villaraigosa – Contaminating Major Cities Across America

At the annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors this week in Miami, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, will ask his colleagues to challenge how the government raids businesses in search of illegal workers.

Villaraigosa wants Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to focus on businesses that exploit workers, such as those that violate wage and safety laws, and ignore the ‘responsible employers’ who violate this countries immigration laws regularly but supply a great deal of revenue to the local tax coffers while breaking the law.

Mayor Villaraigosa, as the mayor of Los Angeles, represents the largest accumulation of illegal aliens in the nation as well as one of the most crime ridden pits of depravity the west coast of this nation has to offer.  Essentially he is encouraging the rest of the nation to become more like Los Angeles where illegal alien gang bangers routinely prey on black communities, welfare fraud has become a fact of life, and murderous thugs from south of the border receive “get out of jail free” passes so they can go back out and do it again.  Los Angeles is a veritable cesspool of illegal aliens and Villaraigosa feels that the rest of the nation needs to catch up.

More Stupid California Politicians

When Adriana Fierro De Marin, an illegal alien struck and killed the 12-year-old Hoover Middle School sixth-grader, Breanna Slaughter-Eck with her Ford Bronco, she was driving without a license, and some of the state’s more opportunistic Democrats have jumped on the incident as their chance to show why illegal aliens should be given driver’s licenses.  California’s liberal legislators have made nine unsuccessful attempts since 1999 to allow undocumented immigrants to apply for driver’s licenses.

The state’s liberal element feels that the citizens of California would be safer if illegal aliens were allowed to get driver’s licenses because statistics link unlicensed drivers to more high-risk, hazardous behavior and that nationwide, one of every five fatal crashes involves drivers without a valid license.

The California liberal legislators seem to believe that if driver’s licenses are offered to illegal aliens they will all immediately run out and get one and that they will all become safe drivers as soon as that chunk of paper is inserted in their wallets.  Forget the fact that illegal aliens have no respect for American law, have a high propensity to drive while intoxicated, and will continue to drive whether or not they have a valid license or if their license is suspended.  The only thing a driver’s license is really going to accomplish for illegal aliens is make it far easier for them to become illegal voters in American elections and while that will benefit the Democratic politicians in California who depend on illegal voters to stay in office, it will have an adverse affect on the normal American citizens who pay for all of this garbage with their taxes.

State Senator Gil Cedillo, the Democratic representative of Los Angeles said, “Breanna’s death should serve as a reminder that many undocumented immigrants are driving California’s streets and highways without proper training.”  He is proposing the state’s tenth attempt to give the illegal aliens driver’s licenses with SB 60.

No, no podemos!

Rhode Island Concerned About Illegal Alien Rapist’s Poor Treatment In Prison

Posted in Illegal Aliens & Immigration Reforms on June 18th, 2008 by MorningStar

Marco Riz, an illegal alien living in Warwick, Rhode Island assaulted a 30 year-old woman in the parking lot of a local Stop & Shop market.  Marco Riz forced the woman into her car after threatening her with a knife and then drove her to a nearby park in Providence where he raped her.  Riz was originally charged with kidnapping, car jacking, assault with a dangerous weapon and first-degree robbery.  The police later added two counts of first degree sexual assault.  The Rhode Island Department of Corrections is considering putting Marco Riz in protective custody after he complained of being treated poorly by his fellow inmates.  Unfortunately for the people of Rhode Island, their state officials are not nearly as concerned about how the American citizens living there are treated by the invading illegal aliens who view the legal inhabitants of this country as free game for any twisted, perverse activity these scumbags can dream up.

The number of American citizens that are slaughtered every year by illegal aliens is greater than the number of American soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of that war on March 20, 2003.  It is estimated that there are more than 900,000 illegal alien predators, rapists, robbers, pedophiles, burglars and murderers running free inside this country on any given day and the numbskulls that we elected to represent us in Washington, like the numbskulls in Rhode Island, California and many other states, don’t seem to be able to comprehend that this is a problem.  Hopefully, before the American people get entirely fed up and start shooting everything that looks like an alien, the federal government sobers up and decides to do something about it besides banning all of the firearms.

The Supreme Agenda

Posted in Politics & Government on June 18th, 2008 by MorningStar

The Supreme Court issued a 5-to-4 ruling yesterday on the case of a Nigerian illegal alien with a precedent setting decision guaranteed to slow down the Bush administration’s efforts to crack down on immigration law violators in the United States.

In their effort to push back at more aggressive enforcement of our immigration laws, the liberal justices in the Supreme Court cited the fact that more than 6 million illegal aliens were deported from the U.S. between 2001 and 2005 and they feel that this indicates over enforcement, or a harsh reading of what they consider a harsh law.  By deciding in favor of the Nigerian illegal alien, Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy and the court’s four liberal justices created a legal loophole that will allow illegal aliens who have overstayed their visas the ability to remain in the U.S. while they file their appeals.  One dissenting Supreme Court Justice, Antonin Scalia, was quoted as saying “The court lacks the authority to impose its chosen remedy.”  However, one New York expert on immigration law predicted, that whether or not the court has the authority to make the decision will not matter in the long run because every immigration lawyer in the country will be trying to use the loophole it provides and the courts will become hopelessly backlogged as millions of appeals start pouring in.

This Supreme Court ruling is similar to last weeks ruling in favor of same-sex marriages.  In both cases the matter being decided was determined by the liberal majority of Supreme Court justices, and both cases represented issues long championed by liberal legislators but successfully opposed by the majority of voting Americans as well as the majority of the more conservative legislators in Washington.  Historically, the Democratic party has attempted to add benefit to those who have entered the country illegally in any way possible and they have been unsuccessful in most of their recent attempts.  The same is true of gay marriage.  It is an issue long favored by the Democratic Party and numerous unsuccessful attempts have been made in the past to legalize same sex marriage.  The Supreme Court ruling issued by a majority of liberal justices has completely overturned and cast aside the will of the American people, the laws passed by the individual states that outlaw the practice, and the policy of the current administration in this regard, and there is little, if anything, that can be done to overturn this ruling.  This is not the way a democracy works.  It is nothing less than a definitive example of tyranny in action.

While two separate instances do not necessarily make a fact, there is plenty of justification to warrant the belief that these two cases are a preview of what is to come in the future.  If the Democratic Party can gain control over the administrative branch, the judiciary and the legislature all at the same time it will become possible for them to advance many of the agendas that have been stymied up to this point.  Vastly increased taxes, widespread redistribution of wealth through expanded social welfare programs, amnesty for all illegal aliens, possibly open borders, and huge cuts in military spending are all back on the table the instant they gain full control, and it won’t matter how resistant the voters are to the changes they want to make because the voters will never be given the opportunity to do anything that might stop them.  The Democratic National Party has been working towards this goal for years and they are one election away from realizing their wildest dreams.  If this is this really what the people of the United States want then more power to them because there is a good chance that they will get what they asked for.  For those of us who prefer to keep what little liberty we have left, and those of us who favor a peaceful, prosperous nation kept safe and secure from the madness of the world around us by a strong well-trained military, there will be little reason to celebrate because that reality, along with the American way of life we enjoy so much, will simply evaporate as if none of it ever really existed.

The Ridiculous Account of Victor Rodriguez & His Attack Trained Snake

Posted in Other on June 17th, 2008 by MorningStar

Police in Bridgeport, Connecticut responded to a domestic violence call after neighbors reported screams coming from a nearby apartment.  Upon their arrival the cops discovered 21-year-old Victor Rodriguez in the process of threatening his girlfriend with a 9-foot-long python, and as they attempted to intercede on her behalf, Victor Rodriguez, obviously not a full fledged member of Mensa, ordered his pet snake to attack the officers.  While the snake sat there docilely ignoring his owner’s command to “Get them,” the cops bagged and tagged the dimwitted culprit and he is now sitting in the local jail on a $10,000 bond facing charges of threatening police and disorderly conduct.  The less-than-attack-trained python was turned over to the city’s animal control shelter where it now sits lethargically digesting a baby rabbit, and the girl was (I am tempted to say she was shot 14 times by police) released unharmed.

The citizens of Bridgeport, Connecticut will rest easier tonight knowing that this desperate malcontent and his malevolent viper have been apprehended.

GAO Reports Illegal Crossing Easier Than Ever

Posted in Illegal Aliens & Immigration Reforms on June 17th, 2008 by MorningStar

According to the undercover investigators putting together a U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on the status of this nation’s border security, nine out of every ten illegal aliens attempting to enter the U.S. through a well-guarded port of entry succeed in their effort simply by asserting that they are already U.S. citizens and showing counterfeit or stolen identification documents to prove what they are saying.  Apparently tougher border security isn’t deterring illegal entries to the United States, but the report claims that the fees charged by organized human smugglers have more than doubled.  However, the report neglects the increased price of gasoline as a possible factor in the escalating fee structure of human smugglers and I suppose they must allow the federal government to take any small amount of credit they can claim even if there is no substantiation to warrant their misguided belief.  The undercover investigators working for the GAO reportedly made 42 crossings using counterfeit identification to pass through the ports of entry with an overall success rate of 93 percent.  Gliding across the border, directly under the oblivious noses of the U.S. Border Patrol agents, is so easy to pull off that few are still willing to undertake the suicidal hike through Arizona’s Sonoran Desert where they may easily die of thirst, excessive heat, predatory bandits and Mexican soldiers smuggling drugs into the United States.

While tougher security measures along the border and increased immigration enforcement by federal officials have reduced some of the illegal entries, it is clear that the potential benefits awaiting illegal aliens on this side of the border are still sufficient to overcome the physical risks of unauthorized entry because the reduction of illegal crossings is miniscule while the number of successful illegal entries still holds at an estimated 8,000 per week.

Short of concertina wire and claymore mines, the only possible way to effectively and dramatically reduce the illegal invasion of this country is to enforce employer sanctions strictly and uniformly across the entire United States.  When the illegal aliens realize that they have no realistic chance of gainful employment in this country they will go back to where they came from and we can concentrate on rooting out the remaining hard-core cases living under false and stolen identities as well a the committed criminals who are not the least bit interested in securing gainful employment.

While I consider the concertina wire and claymore mine approach to border security as being very appealing on a more personal level, I fully understand that there are many people in this country who are far more compassionately inclined than I will ever be, but the fact remains, we need to solve the problem because illegal aliens are rapidly destroying this nation and we simply cannot allow that to continue.  We desperately need to quit talking about the problem and start solving it by any means possible.

The GAO border security report is available in pdf format at: www.gao.gov

Mother of the Year?

Posted in News Events & Media Censorship on June 13th, 2008 by MorningStar

The Mother of the year award is probably not going to be handed over to Enedina Cardona Rodriguez, the 35 year-old mother of eight who was arrested after an undercover investigators with the Long Beach, California police department gathered substantial evidence supporting their allegation that she was dragging her kids along in her SUV while she sold heroin on the streets of Long Beach.

The undercover cops watched and made video recordings as Rodriguez repeatedly made drug deals with her youngest children in tow, often stopping to selling heroin to the neighborhood junkies between picking the kids up from school and running errands. In one especially heart-warming scene, Rodriguez is seen selling heroin as her 3 year old son leans out of the passenger window of her black Isuzu SUV to tell one customer his name hold up three fingers to show his age while momma prompts him to get it right before handing over the bag of smack and taking her happy customer’s money.

When the cops showed up at her door with a search warrant they found four of the children home alone and it took them two hours of telephone negotiations with the mother before she finally relented and agreed to show up, however, before her arrival she sent one of her cousins and two different sets of friends to the apartment in futile attempts to claim the children.  When the woman finally arrived she left her two youngest boys with an unknown man who took off with them after she entered her apartment. When the police contacted the man on his cell phone and explained that he could be arrested for kidnapping if he failed to return the children, including one who is on medication for cancer, he arranged to have the two children returned by a female acquaintance, and currently seven of Rodriguez’ children – five boys and two girls ages 3, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13 and 16 – were placed in protective custody.  Her eldest son, who is eighteen years old, does not appear to be involved according to statements by the police.

A quantity of black tar heroin hidden in a white baby shoe and wads of money stuffed into the pockets of clothing shoved into suitcases, in closets, drawers and tucked into socks and paper bags amounting to more than $10,000 along with a number of un-cashed welfare checks were discovered in the woman’s apartment as a result of the search by police.

Subsequent to her arrest for four drug-related felony counts and 12 counts of misdemeanor child endangerment, Enedina Cardona Rodriguez entered a plea of not-guilty during her arraignment on June 4th.  She is currently being held on $120,000 bail and is due back in Long Beach Superior Court on June 11.  At this point in time there is no official word on this woman’s immigration status and the rumors that she is an illegal alien, at this time appear to be unsubstantiated.

A Supreme Act of Treason

Posted in Muslims, Terrorists & The Middle East, Politics & Government on June 13th, 2008 by MorningStar

On Thursday, June 13, 2008 U.S. Supreme Court took a truly historic step by issuing the most stunningly stupid decision imaginable concerning the U.S. military’s detention of terrorists.

In a five to four split decision, dominated by the al-Qaeda brotherhood of the U.S. Supreme Court, Stevens, Ginsburg, Souter, Kennedy, and Breyer found the  Military Commissions Act of 2007 unconstitutional and that terrorists caught in the process of engaging in acts of war against American soldiers on the field of battle must be afforded the same right to due process that is offered to every crack crazed maniac apprehended after chopping his girlfriend’s kids up into small pieces and eating them for breakfast.

Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Antonin Scalia, and Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas opposed the ruling stating that this decision would result in the deaths of more American soldiers, make it all that much harder for coalition troops to prosecute the war on terror, and that it essentially eliminated an already generous set of procedural protections handed to the enemy combatants now being held.  However, the sharp criticism of the dissenting Supreme Court justices merely scratches the surface of this monumental travesty.

Yesterday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision was entirely motivated by the extreme left-wing agenda shared by the liberal majority in the high court.  To reach this particular decision Stevens, Ginsburg, Souter, Kennedy, and Breyer had to ignore 230 years of historical and legal precedent firmly establishing how the United States of America treats its prisoners of war. Furthermore, in the effort to place the debate over detained terrorists squarely in the political arena so that it could be bunted back and forth during the current political campaign, the overly liberal Supreme Court justices hammering the decision together were forced to sidestep all of the applicable provisions and legal justifications included in The International law of armed conflict (Often referred to as the “law of war”), The Geneva Conventions, The Detainee Treatment Act of 2005 (Enacted December 30, 2005), Department of Defense Directives 2310.01 and 2310.01E, Army Regulation 190-8, and their own previous U.S. Supreme Court decision from “Hamdi v. Rumsfeld”, in which a plurality of the Supreme Court affirmed the right of the United States government to detain the enemy for the duration of the conflict.

Essentially, Thursday’s precedent setting decision provides the U.S. Constitution’s guarantee of Habeas Corpus to every terrorist on the planet regardless of whether or not they are caught red-handed engaging in armed and hostile acts of aggression against American soldiers defending themselves in a time of war.  In the simplest terms possible, this means that the robed gentleman that just fired his rocket propelled grenade at your American Humvee should be considered a “Suspect” as opposed to a target, and that he should be given every opportunity to prove his innocence in an American court of law, furthermore, he must be advised that he has the right to remain silent, that anything he says may be used against him in court; that he has the right to consult with an attorney and to have that attorney present during questioning.  Additionally, if he cannot afford to hire an American attorney to represent him during his legal adventure through the American criminal court system he should not be concerned because there is a veritable cornucopia of left-wing wacko American lawyers waiting in breathless anticipation to represent him at no cost while he pursues complete vindication for his vicious acts before a jury of twelve semi-literate American dunderheads whose primary qualification for jury duty happens to be that, as public employees, they are all entitled to full pay while sitting on a jury.  Just ducky

It is the considered opinion, (and earnest hope) of this writer that before he leaves office, George W. Bush orders all 270 Guantanamo detainees transferred to a remote cave somewhere in Afghanistan where they can be effectively and justly dispatched to their eternal reward with a generous burst of automatic weapons fire followed by an unfortunate and purely accidental cave in.  While he’s at it, maybe he will do us the favor of reserving five additional seats on that plane for the five members of the U.S. Supreme Court who have irrefutably proven themselves to be the enemies of the American people.

Thursday’s Supreme Court decision was not made on the basis constitutional law because there is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that provides any guarantee of American rights to foreign citizens engaged in hostile acts of war against American soldiers fighting this nation’s battles overseas.   The Supreme Court’s ruling in this matter was entirely motivated by the increasingly hysterical leftists dominating Washington that have sworn to bring George W. Bush down in flames and destroy forever American conservatism.  The despicable and entirely contemptuous Supreme Court justices ruling in favor of this treasonous decision have betrayed the American people as well as the country they have solemnly pledged to protect and the damage they have wrought to the security of this nation will be their lasting tribute to the inevitable future destruction of this country, the American people and the principle of liberty we shamelessly took for granted.

Economic Stimulus Package – A Short Circuited Political Effort

Posted in Politics & Government on June 12th, 2008 by MorningStar

While this year’s passage of the economic stimulus package resulted in $48 billion dollars being pumped back into the economy in the form of tax payer rebates, few American citizens are giving thought to the fact that in 2007,  illegal aliens sent an estimated $45 billion out of the United States to other countries where it is permanently lost to our economy and will not be used to spur this nation’s growth.

While most of us have already spent our tax rebates on filling our gas tanks with $4 per gallon gasoline and are relatively happy to get anything at all out of our federal government, we, like the Washington politicians, are failing to connect the dots in the proper order.  The root cause of our downward spiraling economy is poor management, waste and the failure to enforce our existing immigration laws.  We will never pull ourselves out of the pit we have dug ourselves into if we can’t face the facts and deal with the real problems regardless of how politically incorrect we must be in the process.

The Rising Cost Of Just Getting By

Posted in America In Decline on June 9th, 2008 by MorningStar

The Associated Press reporting from New York stated that over this weekend the average price of regular gasoline across the United States has finally reached $4 a gallon for the first time, and with last weeks unprecedented increase in the price of oil, the cost of filling the gas tank on your car is expected to keep going up.

While a lot of people are cussing the American oil companies for the increase in gas prices, the simple truth is that they don’t have as much control over the price of gas that many of us think they do.  With most of our oil coming from either the Middle East or South America, the American oil companies are only taking what they can buy and refining it to make gasoline.  When they have to pay more for a barrel of oil then that cost has to be passed along to the consumer.  The American oil companies are not producing the oil, they are merely processing it and the cost increase is coming from the production end of the supply chain.

Instead of cussing about it we may as well settle back and get used to the idea of gas selling for $10 to $15 a gallon because we are definitely going to get there before too long and the reasons behind it are numerous.  For one thing, there is only so much oil to be had and since we have all but entirely outlawed the development of our domestic oil resources we are forced to depend on countries that are not quite as ecologically restricted as we have made ourselves. Furthermore, since most of America’s industry has moved out of the country because of similar environmental regulations and restrictions this nation no longer has the largest demand for the planet’s limited oil resources.  Since we are no longer the number one consumer of oil on the planet we can no longer define the terms of the deals we make and the competition with other nations whose demand is higher than our own is very tough.  On top of all of this, a number of terrorist organizations around the world have taken to targeting oil and natural gas facilities and pipelines as a way to strike back at the United States.  Oil and natural gas pipelines and facilities all over Iraq are routinely targeted by the insurgents.  A natural gas pipeline running from Iran into Turkey was recently bombed and oil pipelines in Nigeria have been suffered a good deal from terrorist saboteurs, and in fact, the most recent spurt in oil prices came about as a result of the explosion that destroyed a good portion of the Niger Delta pipeline operated by Royal Dutch Shell in Nigeria.

The May 31, 2008 explosion halting the flow of natural gas between Iran and Turkey is a typical example of the type of terrorist activity directed towards oil and gas pipelines around the world.  Even though the damage was repaired and gas began to flow again within five days of the blast, the affect of the destructive blast was monumental in terms of the economic damage caused to Turkey by the loss of more than 100 million cubic meters of imported natural gas as well as the increase in future gas prices raised to accommodate the cost of the repairs.  On an individual basis, one incident may not appear to be that devastating, but in terms of accumulative effect, the actions of the terrorists are decidedly effective and every penny added to the cost of imported energy sends devastating shockwaves rippling through the economy of the western nations and edges them just a bit closer to their inevitable destruction.

The price of the gasoline you are putting in the tank of your car can be considered a fairly accurate gauge of how well our nation is fairing in the war against fanatical Islamic terrorism, and with the cost of regular gasoline soaring above $4 a gallon it appears that we are not doing very well at all.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, the average working American is spending more than 100 hours per year on the road traveling to work and the nationwide drive-time for the commute to work now sits at around 25 minutes one-way.  For mid-size and even economy class automobiles, every work day equals at least a gallon and a half of gasoline burnt commuting.  Even the most fuel efficient cars on the road need to fill up at least once a week, and for a smaller car with a fifteen gallon tank capacity at today’s prices, we are talking about a cost of around $65.00 per week.  When you divide that cost by eight you will find that most minimum scale wage earners are spending over the equivalent of an entire one days wages just to fill up their tanks so they can drive back and forth to work, and that is for today’s costs.  By the time the price of gasoline climbs to $6 a gallon, which it may soon do, the minimum wage earners in this country will be spending more for gasoline to get back and forth to work than they make in the average 40-hour work week and even if you are making $40 an hour, the cost of filling up your tank will have a seriously adverse affect on your economic well-being.

As the price of gasoline continues to raise in America we should expect to see the price of everything else begin to follow suit.  The food in your local grocery store, the clothes in the swanky shopping mall stores, and all of the other consumer goods that Americans are so fond of buying are all delivered by trucks running on either gasoline or diesel fuel.  At a few cents over $4 a gallon, the increased cost of delivering these goods to your local retailers is not that noticeable, but their prices are definitely going up.  By the time the cost of fuel has gone up another $2 a gallon, the cost of delivering these goods will have doubled and the effect on the American consumer will be staggering.

Charles T. Maxwell, the senior energy analyst at Weeden & Co. is described as the “Dean of Oil Analysts.”  During a February 5 interview with Energytechstocks.com, Mr. Maxwell predicted that U.S. gas prices would continue to rise until around 2010-2015 when they would max out at around $15 a gallon.  However, the American economy will be tanking seriously long before we get to that point.

Few of us can imagine a situation where the cost of a single tomato is the equivalent of a full hours wages or a simple home-cooked meal costs the American family eating it nearly half a worker’s weekly wages but if the price of gasoline continues to rise you are going to have a lot more to worry about than simply filling the tank on your car.

BTW – The price of regular gas in Los Angeles today was at $4.45 per gallon and the national average, given as $4 per gallon at the beginning of this article has already increased before I could even finish writing.
