A Trillion Dollar Financial Rescue Plan

Posted in In General on September 29th, 2008 by MorningStar

The nearly trillion dollar financial rescue plan is so far beyond the understanding of the average American that most of us are lost listening to the debate. The average American worker pulls in approximately $28,000 per year when they are twenty five and retires around age 65 when they are making around $42,000 per year. At their peak earning capacity, the average American worker would have to work 23,809,523 years and 8 months to earn one trillion dollars and that doesn’t take into account money spent for beer, hamburgers and child support. A trillion dollars is a lot of money. Somebody that smokes might understand a trillion dollars better than a non-smoker; after all, they spend $5 bucks for a pack of cigarettes and then burn them up. Those of us who can’t see spending money in a pursuit like that can’t hope to understand a figure like $1,000,000,000,000.00. With the population of the United States sitting at 305,291,131 people, a trillion dollars would represent $3,275.56 per person. It represents $7,246.37 for every person registered on the U.S. tax rolls and $56,384.27 for every American citizen old enough to vote in an election. If you won a trillion dollars at a casino you and your next six generations would probably spend their entire lifetimes just trying to truck it all home. One Trillion dollars in one dollar bills would weigh approximately 1,100,000 U.S. tons. Thanks to the Internet’s never ending supply of useful information I have found that if you laid one trillion one dollar bills end to end, you could make a chain that stretches from earth to the moon and back again 200 times before you ran out of dollar bills. $1 trillion would be enough money to buy about a 1,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies for every person in the United States. One trillion dollars would stretch nearly from the earth to the sun. It would take a military jet flying at the speed of sound, reeling out a roll of dollar bills behind it, 14 years before it reeled out one trillion dollar bills. If you had a trillion dollars to spend and were required to spend it at the rate of one million dollars a day it would take you 2,737 years to go broke. If you counted to a trillion out loud, one number per second, it would take you the next 31,688 years to complete the task.

The 2008 Economic Stimulus package which cost the American taxpayers around $168 billion, was a drop in the bucket by comparison. You might vaguely recall the $600.00 check you got from the IRS earlier this year when the government sent them out to boost the economy around the same time that the price of unleaded gas was sailing past the $4.00 per gallon mark. The IRS said that nearly 130 million people qualified for one of those $600 checks and if you do the math it shows that they spent around $90 billion dollars processing and mailing out around $78 billion dollars worth of $600 checks. This may be a good indication of why we are now witnessing the collapse of our economy. This time we are going for an even trillion dollars but there won’t be any checks to the tax payers. Instead we will end up writing one to them. If this were a really fair arrangement we should at least be allowed to print our own money to pay them with like they do for us.

Unfortunately, the people who will be getting these one trillion dollars are people that we universally dislike – the bill collectors. Furthermore, these bill collectors are being given this amazing sum of money because they can’t squeeze the money out of the people they’ve loaned it to. Granted, my perspective may be rather simplistic but I fail to see why their incompetence should become a burden for generations of Americans yet to come. Even if there are stupid government regulations requiring them to loan money to low income people there is still a major distinction between low income and no income, and if they loaned money to people who could never hope to pay it back that shouldn’t be our problem.

I’m still not too clear on just how this thing is supposed to work. Say I am a lender, and I’ve loaned Tom, Dick and Harry each $500,000 to buy a house despite none of them having a job. They can’t make the payments and I’m over the barrel for the one and half million bucks I loaned to these deadbeats. The government comes in and gives me a $1.5 million dollar bailout check to keep me afloat. I foreclose the mortgages on Tom, Dick and Harry’s three houses and put them back on the market where I eventually sell them for $1.5 million. Now I have $3 million. The taxpayers are out $1.5 million, Tom, Dick and Harry are drunk on cheap wine and living on the street in Los Angeles, but I’m out buying a new boat for myself and a pink Mercedes for my 16 year old daughter. This sounds like a pretty good deal for the people getting the money, but in the grand scheme of things, it sort of reminds me of a shell game. Tails I win, heads you lose. Obviously this is another example of why we pay politicians so much money. It takes a special sort of mind to come up with stuff like this and thankfully we are not all capable of doing the job.

When I was a kid my dad always gave the same answer to every question regarding a potential new expense. He had it down so good that it seemed like some sort of instinctual thing, possibly genetic. It didn’t matter who was asking or what the money was for the answer always came out the same because there are only do many ways to say “no.” Maybe some of those characters in Washington should learn to do that.

Obama Campaign Finance Chairman Playing Footsie With Ahmadinejad

Posted in Politics & Government on September 29th, 2008 by MorningStar

Penny Pritzker, the Obama campaign finance chairman, is one of the 12 grandchildren of Chicago patriarch, Abraham N. Pritzker. She is a Harvard-trained attorney and was selected by her late uncle to oversee the family’s vast portfolio of investments which include the Marmon Group industrial conglomerate and the Hyatt hotel chain. She is also a former member of the board of the failed Superior Bank Savings & Loan implicated in irresponsible subprime mortgage lending during the 1990s and after the Pritzkers’ bank acquired a wholesale mortgage organization division, Alliance Funding, at the end of 1992, Penny Prtizker primary responsibility was to concentrate on subprime lending, primarily for home mortgages, but for a brief period on subprime auto lending as well. Essentially, Penny Pritzker and the family bank played a central role in innovating “Mortgage Backed Securities,” which are now the focus of the current financial crisis and the real estate melt down. This might have some bearing on why Barack Obama has avoided discussing the significant role that financially irresponsible bank board members, such as his own campaign finance chairman, played in the creation of the subprime mortgage foreclosure financial calamity that the American taxpayers will soon be shouldered with.

As if that were not sufficient cause for embarrassment, Thursday night, Penny Pritzker hosted a gala, celebrity studded, reception for the crazed Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the family owned New York Hyatt hotel. The Iranian popinjay was warmly welcomed by the former Democratic Indiana congressman, John Brademas and the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Nihad Awad.  In June 2007, CAIR was named as the “unindicted co-conspirator” in a criminal conspiracy to fund the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, and several former CAIR officials have been convicted or deported after being charged with fraud, embargo violations, and aiding terrorist training in the Middle East.

Ahmadinejad’s address to those attending the event began with an invocation of the 12th imam; similar to the way he began his speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday when he added the comment that he hoped his actions “would hasten the Imam’s return.” Ahmadinejad who is a member of the Mahdivist cult of Shia Islam believes that the 12th imam will return to earth after a period of worldwide conflagration, mass destruction, famine, and starvation and many see his invocation of the 12th imam as his way of revealing his intention to provoke a world war that would make this 12th imam’s return to earth possible.

The remainder of Ahmadinejad’s speech was taken up with hostile verbiage aimed at Israel, which he refers to as “a dried, rotten tree that will collapse with a single storm,” and his condemnation of the United States, concerning which he stated, “American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road.”

The former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Richard Holbrooke, criticized the scheduled reception for Ahmadinejad during the State-Sanctioned Incitement to Genocide Conference held in Washington, D.C., on September 23. The former ambassador said that he would never support a ban against anyone speaking at the U.N. but he did not feel that Ahmadinejad should be allowed to speak elsewhere in the United States. Holbrook cited his reasons as being, “Not because I’m afraid his words will influence anyone who hears them, but because he uses these forums to legitimize himself in Iran.”

By giving intensely hostile Islamic fundamentalists like Ahmadinejad a pulpit from which to spread their twisted fanatical beliefs and hostile comments about Israel and the United States, we are increasing their credibility and political power in the Middle East and risking further the further destabilization of the region at a time when the progress we have made their is still fragile and there is no possible way to control how the Iranian media spins Ahmadinejad’s American reception to it’s Middle Eastern audience.

Iran is a country where giant banners proclaiming, “Israel should be wiped out of the face of the world,” in English and Farsi hang from the Iranian government buildings in Tehran and similar banners decorate the Iranian Shahab-3 missiles when they are paraded through the streets of Tehran. Ahmadinejad, who is the primary spokesman for the Iranian government has never exercised discretion in calling for the complete and total annihilation of the nation of Israel which also happens to be America’s number one loyal friend and ally. The Iranian media can be expected to portray Ahmadinejad’s reception at the New York Hyatt hotel as an event that was sponsored by a growing segment of U.S. society dismayed by their government’s hostility to the peace loving Muslim people of Iran.

Barack Obama has made negotiations with Ahmadinejad a cornerstone of his foreign policy approach and the Democratic candidate has stated on numerous occasions that he will meet with the Iranian official to negotiate a sweeping security agreement with his regime with no preconditions and this may explain why Barack Obama’s campaign finance chairman would set up a reception for the Iranian president and give him a U.S. forum from which to launch his criticism of Israel and the United States.

If this is a preview of Obama’s foreign policy position with respect to the terrorist sponsoring nation of Iran, the nation of Israel has good cause for concern, however, they should not be the only concerned party because a U.S. President who is willing to naively dabble with a fanatical Islamic tyrant like Ahmadinejad is a president who has no concept of “national security,” and that can only spell disaster for the United States and the American people.

CNN Poll – Says Obama Won But McCain Wins Where It Counts

Posted in Politics & Government on September 27th, 2008 by MorningStar

CNN’s national poll of predominantly Democratic voters who watched the first McCain/Obama presidential debate last night yielded the predictable conclusion that Obama won. However, of the Democrats polled, 38% thought McCain did a better job and 31% of the Democratic women thought McCain did a better job. CNN mistakenly views this as a win for Obama, but since, by their admission, most of the people polled were Democrats, it is hard to understand their logic.

If the people polled were primarily democratic voters and those people represent a cross section of the nation’s Democrats, it seems to me that what is indicated by the results is not that Obama won the debate but that he has lost the support of 38% of his own party, including 31% of the women Democrats, and since the CNN poll cites a 4.5% margin of error, the number of supporters Obama has lost to McCain may be as high as 42.5%. If CNN considers that a victory then they ought to be pretty pleased when John McCain is voted into office by an overwhelming majority of American voters in November.

From my personal observation of the debate last night, I believe that Obama clearly underestimated his opponent and despite the hours he spent rehersing for last night’s performance, Obama still spent most of his response time stumbling over his words in the futile attempt to articulate his foggy positions. Despite Obama’s constant interruptions of McCain, the Republican candidate came across as confident and clear as I expected he would. Regardless of how CNN viewed the debate, I believe that John McCain carried the night.

The Blame Belongs on Government

Posted in Politics & Government on September 26th, 2008 by MorningStar

Most of our representatives in congress seem to agree that the current financial crisis is the result of the high rate of foreclosures and the falling value of homes. But what we are not being told is that the housing crisis was brought about by the Democrats insistence that savings and loan companies and mortgage outfits give loans to virtually anyone who walked through their door regardless of income or their ability to pay back the money they were borrowing. The creative financing, the zero interest home loans and all of the other mortgage strategies that crumbled in on top of the economy were created solely to meet the demand of people wanting to buy houses well beyond their financial means, people who previously would have been denied a loan by any bank in the country because they had no possible way of fulfilling the financial obligation they were entering into.

The entire Democratic Party can deny this until they are blue in the face but the fact remains that they are the ones who made it possible for burger flippers earning $12,000 a year and illegal aliens making even less to purchase $6 and 7 hundred thousand dollar homes with a credit score of 175, twelve maxed out credit cards and a brand new BMW that gets repossessed on the average of once every other month. The current financial crisis can be undeniably traced back to two congressional legislative acts and both of them were proposed and supported by the Democratic Party and both were both passed into law during congressional sessions where the Democrats held a majority in both chambers. The first is the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) enacted in 1974 during the Democrat dominated 93rd session of the United States Congress, and the second is the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) which was passed by the Democrat dominated 95th United States Congress and signed into law by the Democratic president Jimmy Carter in 1977.

For any that don’t already know, the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) is a United States federal law that requires banks and thrifts to offer credit throughout their entire market area and prohibits them from targeting only wealthier neighborhoods with their services. The purpose of the CRA was to provide credit, including home ownership opportunities to underserved populations and commercial loans to small businesses. Under the Clinton administration the CRA was amended to include minority quotas that the lending agencies and banks had to meet before they would be considered eligible to expand their business or merge with another lending institution. There were also financial penalties for lending institutions that failed to comply with the regulations. In order to meet these minority quotas the lending institutions were forced to relax their standards for lending to the extreme point that an unemployed individual whose only source of income was their monthly welfare check could get a loan to buy a $600,000 house.

Every attempt to modify the Community Reinvestment Act including George W. Bush’s 2003 proposal for regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry has been stymied by the congressional Democrats who have derided each and every attempt to forestall what we are seeing today as a return to racist and discriminatory policies. Despite everything currently being said in the liberal press even Bill Clinton has substantiated the fact that the Democrats are the ones who have stonewalled reform efforts aimed at the housing finance industry and last Thursday he publicly stated to ABC’s Chris Cuomo that for years they have been “resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.” However, exactly what effort he put into tightening up the regulations on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac remains open for debate. While the CRA, in its original form, was designed to encourage lending institutions to provide more low income loans, the changes enacted during the Clinton administration brought more focus on the lending institution’s ability to meet the minority quotas established. This substantially increased the number and aggregate amount of loans to small businesses and to low and moderate income borrowers for home loans. Another change implemented by the Clinton administration was to allow Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to hold just 2.5% of the capital required to back their investments while banks were still required to hold 10% of the capital required to back their investments. This change alone, more than any other, gave tremendous financial leverage to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and by 2007 they either owned or guaranteed almost half of this nation’s nearly $12 trillion dollar mortgage market and there were no regulations in place to monitor their increasingly risky investments.

It goes without saying that nothing happens in a total vacuum and that is as true of Washington D.C. as it is anywhere else. While the lion’s share of the blame for our current economic situation lies directly at the feet of the Democrats, the Republicans have also played a significant role in creating the problems, and none of this happened without their knowledge. When the Republican dominated both chambers of congress during the 109th session there were no significant attempts to mitigate or even forestall the increasing economic problem that has become a total catastrophe today and if there is a lesson to learn from all of this it is not that one party has more economic sense than the other but that government regulation of a free market economy only serves to accentuate the existing problems because, to put it as simply as it can be put, politics and economics simply do not mix.

The Relevance Of A Liberal Latino’s Perspective OF Small Town America

Posted in Politics & Government on September 24th, 2008 by MorningStar

As the Wall Street Journal reported back on September 9th, the Democrats have been airdropping squads of lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage ever since John McCain announced that she would be his running mate on August 29. The liberal news media didn’t want to be left out of the fun and has embedded an entire gaggle of so-called “journalists” in the DNC’s sapper squads to give the folks back home in the real world the benefit of their observations.

The Los Angeles Times, which considers their journalistic endeavor to be second to none in the wonder less world of liberal propaganda, couldn’t make the initial invasion. They might have been preoccupied covering the city council’s latest attempt to secede from the Union and turn Southern California over to the Mexican government, or it might have been that they were just too busy bashing George Bush, John McCain or anything that resembled a Republican to notice that the plane was taxiing down the runway without them. They spent a few weeks gnawing their toenails before making a desperate stab at recovery and toward the end of the month the Los Angeles Times had a journalist, of sorts, on the ground in Wasilla with a brand new Pooper Scooper held at port arms, ready for action.

Steve Lopez (the guy that picked the short straw), has been a columnist with the L.A. Times for five years. He is the author of three or four books currently being sold at greatly reduced prices on Amazon. He is a native of California, a Latino and an obvious Los Angeles liberal of sophisticated taste. The majority of his work at the Times is focused on human interest stories and since there is no end of human interest stories in Los Angeles, his job can’t be all that demanding, which may give us an idea about why he was selected to go to Wasilla when there is so much to write about in Los Angeles.

At any rate, Lopez has managed to squeeze out three or four columns about Wasilla so far, and while none of them are very flattering, he is doing the job he was sent up there to do, and both the Los Angeles Times and the Democratic Party should be proud of his efforts. Personally, I believe that his columns about Wasilla are very informative and that they should be required reading for every small town voter in America. After all, Lopez is giving us the liberal eyed perspective of Sarah Palin’s home town environment and that is the basis for most of the Democratic objections to her being considered qualified as a candidate for office. For that reason alone, these columns represent a perspective worth understanding even if it is one we chose not to adopt.

The carefully crafted image of Wasilla, Alaska portrayed by Lopez is as I stated above, not altogether flattering. The town of less than 10,000 residents is home to a Wal-Mart, a Target, a Lowe’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, two hamburger franchises, a Taco Bell, a gun store and a wide assortment of churches. There are strip malls, bars and fast-food joints, a Chili’s Restaurant and little mom & pop shops catering to local needs. Some of the buildings on the main drag have that western appearance that is fairly common in numerous other small towns around Alaska. There is a library, a museum, an assortment of schools, a city hall, police station, post office, one mall and a sports complex. For a big-city liberal Latino from Southern California, an assignment in Wasilla might be considered an extreme hardship worthy of hazardous duty pay. The Wasilla town fathers might not roll up the sidewalks every night at dusk but unless you consider Wal-Mart an entertainment venue there isn’t a whole lot to do after dark in Wasilla.

Most of the 10,000 people living in and around Wasilla work elsewhere because there aren’t that many jobs in town that pay well. The population is mostly white and American Indian with a few Hispanics and maybe even an African American family and a few Asians. The cost of living in Wasilla is lower than the U.S. average but that is probably more an indication of the lack of real stylish consumer goods like you would find in the upscale boutiques along Wilshire than anything else. Essentially, Wasilla is small town, America and it is no different than the millions of other small towns scattered across the lower 48 states that the majority of America’s population call home.

Wasilla is the target of a big-city Latino liberal journalist and the elite Democratic Party campaign officials because they view such places as being primitively unrefined, socially backward, abysmally boring and entirely lacking in the sort of sophistication that one only encounters in the large population centers like Los Angeles, Chicago or New York. Small towns and small town people are an easy target for the urban elitists because the people living in these isolated corners of America are not as repressed by the social burden of politically correctness that we hammer into our children from the time they are born. It’s easy to get them to say things that a slick writer can twist to his advantage, or in this case, to the advantage of the Democratic presidential candidate. The unsophisticated Wasillites, like the denizens of similar small towns tend to be more open around strangers than their big city counterparts. The most urbane of Democratic elitists and unknown big-city liberal Latino journalists can wander in from the brush and find friendly acceptance from small town folks who tend to take everyone at face value because that is simply the way things are in small towns. Even a duplicitous weasel with a hidden agenda will be greeted with a warm welcome and a cheery smile.

Ironically, what the Democratic campaign workers and the liberal press haven’t figured out yet is that most of the American voters, including the majority of American people who honestly view their participation in the Democratic process of voting as a sacred patriotic obligation, live the biggest part of their lives in places like Wasilla, Alaska. Small towns are where their homes are. Small towns are where they choose to live out their lives, find their mates, raise their children and worship their creator. They accept the minor hardships of their environment with stoic reservation and lead comfortable lives that are every bit as satisfying to them as anything you might find in a posh Southern California high rise condominium full of chrome plated furniture.

While the inhabitants of the densely packed Los Angeles suburbs might get a chuckle over Steve Lopez’s portrayal of the unpolished Wasilla rubes, and the Democratic campaign workers might consider awarding him a prize for the service he’s rendering to them with his snidely sarcastic verbiage, the fact of the matter is that most of the people in this great nation either live in small towns like Wasilla or they came from a small town like Wasilla and still miss the simplicity they left behind. Steve Lopez can paint these people anyway he likes, he can make fun of their comments, their lack of big-city sophistication and their little towns full of short little buildings. He can sift through their garbage, dig out their dirt and blow it out of all proportion for the world to see but what he is trying to show us is not half as interesting as what we are seeing.

Unlike the myopic Mr. Lopez, most Americans are intelligent enough to realize that living in a large metropolitan area does not automatically instill any sort of significant qualification that is absent from individuals who have spent their lives in small towns. If this were true then most of the men who have served as President of the United States and most of the people who signed the Declaration of Independence lacked the qualification derived from big-city life. Most of this nation’s truly great leaders and statesmen came to serve our nation from towns much smaller than Wasilla. An honest heart, strong personal character, a solid sense of integrity and an undying love for America, freedom and liberty are the real qualifications we should be looking for in a presidential candidate and those attributes can be found a lot easier in small towns that they can in large ones.

As I stated earlier, I believe that Steve Lopez’s columns should be required reading for all small town American voters because those people, including the people of Wasilla should know how they are being portrayed in America’s liberal press and how the Democratic Party has lined up against them. When Barack Obama stood before that crowd of wealthy California donors in San Francisco and said that small town Americans are a bitter people who cling to their guns, their religion, their anti-immigrant beliefs and their antipathy to people who aren’t like them, he was not just talking about Pennsylvania, he was playing to the generally accepted belief common among most Democratic elitists about all small towns in America.

While some people in this country believe there should be a general intelligence test required before voting, and others would at least like to see someone verifying citizenship the Democrats have opposed both ideas strongly, however, if they could figure out some way to eliminate the voting rights of normal people who work for a living and struggle to raise their children in a responsible manner they would jump on it gleefully. Especially if it meant that they could free themselves from the last remaining strongholds of American patriotism and common sense that is so abundant in small towns around this nation. While this view might not serve to make our nation stronger it is a view that seems to be gaining in popularity among the big-city Democrats, including Barack Obama and that is something that small town citizens ought to be aware of.

Balance the Cost Of No Immigration Enforcement And We Lose

Posted in Illegal Aliens & Immigration Reforms on September 23rd, 2008 by MorningStar

The Republican business owners say they need a cheap source of willing workers, and the Democratic politicians tell us that it’s the humane thing to do, besides that they need all of the votes they can get and it is an election year. We have written, emailed and called our representatives in Washington until we are blue in the face and nothing has changed. They’ve legislated a border fence that costs billions of tax payer dollars and after more than a year they haven’t built enough to surround a good sized garden let alone keep out the invading hordes from Mexico.

Thousands of American citizens are murdered by illegal aliens in the United States every year. If you want to put some perspective on it consider the fact that there are more American’s killed by illegal aliens in the United States every single year than all of the American soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of that war. Thousands of American women have been raped, their lives traumatized forever. Hundreds of American children are kidnapped and sexually abused in unthinkable ways by illegal aliens every year in the United States. Millions of American families have been left traumatized by the senseless violence perpetrated on them and their family members by illegal aliens. There is not one state or one city in this nation where this is not true.

Every year our elected representatives enact tons of legislation aimed at protecting us from the evils of cigarette smoke, the fat in our diet, the filth in our air, the chemicals in our water and the hate that might be lurking in our hearts, but they completely ignore the unnecessary death and destruction we and our family members suffer at the hands of predatory illegal aliens. Illegal aliens kill our citizens, they rape women and girls, they abuse our children, they are arrested, deported and return to our country before we can even bury the victims of their crimes, and Washington does nothing.

Frances Hernandez, a 23 year old illegal alien from Guatemala is a fine representative of the deadly threat that our elected leaders in Washington chose to ignore. In the last five years Hernandez has been arrested some 20 times on charges of forgery, assault, theft, fraud, driving without a valid license, speeding and driving while intoxicated. He has been known to use at least 11 different aliases. Despite this man’s illegal immigration status, his obvious propensity for a life of crime and his long arrest record in the United States, he has never been deported. Furthermore, despite his prior 16 arrests, no one has ever questioned his immigration status or even bothered to check with the immigration authorities.

On Thursday, September 4th, Frances Hernandez was weaving in and out of the Aurora, Colorado traffic at a high rate of speed in an SUV when he blasted through a red light and broadsided Debra Serecky and Patricia Guntharp in their pickup truck. The SUV that Hernandez was driving along with the pickup truck that he hit careened into a Baskin Robbins ice-cream shop where 3 year old Marten Kudlis and his mother were waiting in line for an ice cream. Martin Kudlis was killed as were the two women in the pickup truck that Hernandez struck when he ran the red light. Frances Hernandez ran from the scene of the accident but he was captured nearby. Hernandez was driving without a valid license and without insurance.

Three year old Marten Kudlis hadn’t even been laid to rest before the excuses started flowing. The Federal Immigration authorities were offering up a plethora of statistical evidence supporting the fine job they are doing and the state and local law enforcement agencies have all claimed to have been doing their jobs to the fullest and everyone is cooperating with everyone else just the way we expect them to be doing. And yet, there three fresh graves in Colorado and a three year old child along with two women join the thousands of other American citizens killed this year by illegal aliens so that the Republicans can have a cheap source of workers and the Democrats can get more illegal alien votes.

I have to wonder if buried somewhere in some cold hearted government accounting office there is a mathematical formula for calculating the offset between the benefits derived from cheap workers and even cheaper votes and the number of American lives senselessly destroyed. The blood of Marten Kudlis is not on the hands of Frances Hernandez alone.

Good Questions

Posted in Politics & Government on September 23rd, 2008 by MorningStar

We have heard Barack Obama’s incessant complaints and criticism for the way this nation has been run over the last eight years. We have heard what he has to say about why changes must be made to the way we do things so the world will like us more and other countries will respect us, and we have heard him say that the Republicans can’t do the job right.

What he hasn’t told us and what we really don’t know is how this man will react when the bombs fall, the cities explode in flame and blood runs in the streets of America, because our enemies have promised us that it is not a matter of if these things will really happen, but when.

We can never appease our enemies, not with smiles, friendship, money or words. We know this is true because we have seen other Democratic presidents try and fail. The more we give, the more they will demand of us and the only thing they will ever understand is the strong hand of a strong American leader and a united people willing to fight for their freedom and their way of life.

Is this the best time in America’s history to elect a man who has sworn to drastically reduce our nation’s military, gut our missile defense systems and destroy the weapons that keep our enemies at bay? Is this the best time in America’s history to elect a man who has ignorantly blamed America for the wrongs of the world and tells us he can fix all the problems with talk?

Are you willing to bet your freedom and your way of life on Barack Obama?

Are you willing to bet your life and the lives of your family members on Barack Obama?

Rachel Maddow – MSNBC’s Voice of Hysterical, White Liberalism

Posted in Politics & Government on September 22nd, 2008 by MorningStar

Just about the time we thought we had witnessed the lowest end of America’s journalistic decay, they plunge over an unseen precipice into depths that we never imagined possible for what is certainly one of the crudest demonstrations amoral depravity in television broadcast news history.

It is as if the American news media’s solid six years of never ending negativity about everything and everyone associated with the Bush administration, seven years of negative and defeatist propaganda about the U.S. military, the war in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq, top secret documents and plans purposely leaked to the Islamic fundamentalist nut jobs and their methodical destruction of our nation’s image at home and abroad were not an entirely sufficient demonstration of their extreme maliciousness, they are now compelled to show the entire world that they can go even deeper, that they have not really even began to dive, and that the bottom, if there is such a thing in their mind, is not yet in sight.

MSNBC’s broadcast of an Air America segment showing Rachel Maddow, liberal talking head, and Jonathan Alter, senior editor for Newsweek magazine trying to play a watered down, liberal cracker’s version of the black race card against the McCain campaign is an obvious demonstration of desperation. The segment begins with Rachel Maddow saying she would like Alter’s opinion on her idea about a McCain television ad which she then describes in the following manner:

“This Raines ad, this Franklin Raines ad was put up today by the McCain campaign not because there is a worrying tie between Obama and Franklin Raines, the Fannie Mae executive, because there doesn’t seem to be a tie between them, but because Raines is black, and they were bending over to make a race tinged ad showing these two black men, looking very menacing and then showing a worried and distressed elderly white woman at the end of the ad.”

The link to the McCain ad described by Rachel Maddow can be found at the bottom of this posting, but before you watch that ad carefully consider the image portrayed by Rachel Maddow’s description of two very menacing black men and a distressed elderly white woman. My first impression was that this must be one scary ad and I pictured to hulking black guys standing over a cowering little old white lady who was obviously feeling threatened. My initial impression, based on Rachel Maddow’s description, was followed by the thought that McCain must have slipped a cog when he released the ad because any campaign ad showing something of that nature would be viewed as racist. Now scroll on down to the link below and watch the actual McCain ad as it was aired.

The pictures of Obama and Franklin used in the ad are both stock news photos. There doesn’t appear to be any special manipulation applied to these photos to make either of the individuals portrayed look menacing, and the photos used are probably identical to what is shown in the ad. There are no glowing eyes, no fangs and no ominous shadows to be seen in the ad. The image of the woman appearing at the end of the ad also looks to be something pulled from the photo stock of an advertising agency. Whether or not the woman portrayed appears “worried,” “distressed,” “upset,” or “threatened” is a matter of personal interpretation. She could just as easily be described as looking slightly amused, thoughtful or maybe constipated. She certainly doesn’t appear to be terrorized. Furthermore since the images of Barack Obama or Franklin Raines appear in the same frame as the image of the woman there is no obvious connection between how she appears in relation to how the two men appear.

Obviously, Rachel Maddow used her position on MSNBC to launch an unwarranted and desperate attack on the McCain campaign. Her lack of objectivity is made evident by her denial of a connection between Obama and Franklin, a connection that was made on July 16th when Franklin Raines advised Washington Post reporter, Anita Huslin, that he had “taken calls from Barack Obama’s presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters.” Furthermore, the McCain ad did not try to establish that Obama was somehow responsible for the collapse of Fannie Mae, or that Obama and Raines shared the same economic views, that they were friends, lovers or even members of the same street gang. What the McCain ad did say was that Obama lacks economic experience, and that lack of experience is made obvious by the fact that he contacted someone like Franklin Raines for advice on mortgage and housing policy matters – end of story. If there were menacing black men appearing in the ad, I certainly didn’t see them and I suspect that the only person who felt menaced by the appearance of two black men in the ad was Rachel Maddow, and that probably says a lot more about her than it does about John McCain. If Rachel Maddow is the best the liberal news media has to provide, it is little wonder that Rush Limbaugh draws such huge ratings.  However, despite Maddow’s demonstration of unwarranted and possibly prejudicial racial fears, I am sure that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are feeling very relieved to know that Rachel Maddow has their backs covered, and that she is there to jump in when they fail to recognize another imagined slight.

The hysterical reaction of the liberal news media to the McCain campaign is a far more accurate measure of the Republican’s growing level of support than any opinion poll because it clearly indicates that, regardless what the majority of American voter’s think, the liberal press, the people who created Barack Obama and transformed that know-nothing / done-nothing, very junior senator into an omnipotent being worthy of representing the Democratic Party’s allegedly lofty goals, know that they and their celebrity candidate are failing. Despite eight years of strategy and eight years of concentrated negative news coverage, the liberal press is feeling the pull of gravity and the victory they once felt was a slam-dunk assurance is now slipping their white-knuckled grasp as more and more of this nation’s fence-sitting independent voters are lining up behind the only candidate that can possibly beat the single largest threat to the American way of life in the last hundred years, Barack Obama.

John McCain may be an old man and he may not represent a clear solution to every problem this nation currently faces, but he is, by far, a much safer choice for office than Barack Obama and Obama’s extreme left-wing dream of a socialized American government where the poor and uneducated benefit at our expense, and the concepts of freedom and liberty are redefined as the selfish characteristics of unpatriotic social deviants resistant to Obama’s demands for change.

All Community Organizers Are Not Necessarily The Same

Posted in Politics & Government on September 19th, 2008 by MorningStar

The American news media is still trying for all their worth (which is not especially valuable) to fan the flames of liberal outrage over Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin’s comparison of a small town mayor and a community organizer, or to be a bit more precise, between her duties as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska and what Barack Obama was doing as a community organizer.

“I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except you have actual responsibilities.”

Immediately following Palin’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul on September 3, 2008, America’s liberal dominated news media flew into a frenzy of hysterical outrage over the nerve of this small town white woman who would have the audacity to compare herself with their carefully reconstructed Democratic icon. What probably upset them even more than Palin’s comparison was the apparent lack of outrage among the general population. The speculation that the public’s lack of outrage might be a demonstration of some measured acceptance for what Palin had said about the man they had worked so hard to fabricate and this was a threat that could not go unchallenged. The public had to somehow be made to feel the same level of outrage at this sacrilege and it was their solemn duty to stir this pot of discontent for all they were worth.

When David Paterson, the current governor of New York, made the absurd allegation that the words “community organizer” are Republican code for “black,” the high strung journalists leaped for joy. They had a genuine black man condemning Palin’s comparison in terms that every truly paranoid person of color should be able to get behind. “I think the Republican Party is too smart to call Barack Obama ‘black’ in a sense that it would be a negative. But you can take something about his life, which I noticed they did at the Republican Convention – a ‘community organizer.’ They kept saying it, they kept laughing.” The news media grabbed it up and ran with it like their tails were on fire. However, as racially charged and ridiculously paranoid as Paterson’s criticism was, it somehow failed to stir the smoldering embers of racial unrest.

Sometime after this the Democratic representative from Tennessee, Steve Cohen, speaking from the floor of the House, made the curious statement that “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor.” This comment slid in from left field in a most unexpected manner. It was as if Rep. Cohen had stayed up all night rehearsing it with various tones and inflections trying to squeeze every microscopic atom of importance into it that he could. It didn’t play quite as well in reality as it did in his deluded brain and the representative from both parties were left scratching their heads in wonder after he it was uttered. It really wasn’t quite what the journalists were looking for and most of them decided not to touch it.

For nearly a month and a half the frustrated liberal journalists have been stewing over their failure to elicit the proper level of hysteria and just about when most normal observers would think they had given up completely we are starting to see indications that the fight is not yet over. Earlier this week the Los Angeles Times ran a story on their front page with the Headline “GOP Joke, but an all American job.” The headline was to remind us about Palin’s comment and the article was an illustration of one dedicated community organizer’s hard work in a southwest Detroit neighborhood. The obvious point of the entire article was clear – the liberals were telling us that here is a community organizer, a person doing the same job that Obama did in Chicago. While they stopped short of making the illogical leap, the implication that the readers should make that illogical leap literally oozed from the ink. Here we see a community organizer at work in Detroit, he is doing a hard job in a very inspiring way and should be admired by all – Barack Obama was a community organizer in Chicago, so it follows that he was doing a hard job in a very inspiring way and should be admired by all. As anyone who has brushed up against the formal study of logic can tell you, there is no comparison between the community organizer described in the Los Angeles Times article and Barack Obama’s past, present or future work and the argument that there is, implied or stated, is a fallacious illogical deduction.

Ironically, the gentleman described in the Los Angeles Times article was a white man who has worked as a community organizer in the Detroit area for more than thirty years, and his story is fairly inspirational even if it has no relevance with respect to Barack Obama. The Detroit community organizer is not, after all, running for president of the United States, and Barack Obama is. If we are to give any sort of merit to Obama’s “service” as a community organizer in Chicago we need to know more details. Unfortunately, the details about Obama’s work as a community organizer, like many other aspects of his life, are not very clear. What is clear is that “community organizer” is a rather nebulous term covering a diverse array of activities. It could be applied to an individual endeavoring to set up a neighborhood watch program, someone trying to organize a neighborhood cleanup or an individual trying to organize a neighborhood protest regarding a city’s actions or inaction on some particular subject. It could be a lot of things and as far as Obama is concerned it means nothing unless we know the focus of his work as a community organizer. For all we know he may have spent his three years working as a community organizer sitting in some dingy south Chicago office on his butt. He could have spent the time stirring hate, racial discord, and discontent like some of the individuals he associates with and has tried to disassociate from in recent months. He only did the job for a very brief period of time and without some facts it is pretty difficult to give this period of service much merit. A lot of people, me included, tend to believe that this aspect of his life is something he is expanding beyond reality to serve his political purposes and until I get more facts on the matter I intend to disregard every bit of it.

Our failure to discern the truth is not a compelling justification to accept what is obviously a falsehood.

As this video indicates the tide of feeling against Barack Obama is begining to rise, especially among African Americans.

Khrushchev’s Prophecy – Fifty Two Years Later

Posted in Politics & Government on September 18th, 2008 by MorningStar

The Associated Press released some startling news this morning after an interview with the Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate Joe Biden aired on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” in which Biden advised America that wealthy (whatever wealthy means) Americans who are already complaining about the very real possibility of having to pay a lot more in taxes after Obama’s coronation, just need to get over it and quit being so unpatriotic to their nation.

Joesph Biden stated with a straight face that he and Obama intend to “take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” and if the money in question needs to be squeezed from the wallets and investment accounts of those who have a lot of it, then that is just the way it’s going to be in the new People’s Republic of Obamaland.

Essentially, I suppose that what Joe Biden is saying to us is that if you object to subsidizing free homes, free income, free healthcare and free educations up to and including four years or more in a university for 20 or 30 million illegal aliens then you are unpatriotic. If you want to keep a roof over your families head, give your children the opportunity to grow up healthy and make sure they have the benefit of a college education then that is all fine and well but before Obama and Biden are going to let you do that you have to fulfill the what they are now claiming is your patriotic obligation and supply them with enough of your hard-earned income in the form of higher taxes so that they can give it away to a group of people that don’t have any legal right to be here in the first place and don’t have the financial means to provide for their families and their kids like you do. That seems fairly simple to understand but I can make it even simpler – if you are opposed to turning the picked over carcass of this once great and wealthy nation into a full blown Marxist tyranny where the state can step in at any point and take possession of what you have worked all of your life to get then Joe Biden thinks you are unpatriotic.

I can only imagine that somewhere down the road, in the event that these two ninnies manage to get elected, we will see unpatriotic actions like Biden is describing turned into criminal acts and the perpetrators of those crimes will be labeled as social deviants requiring intense remedial intervention by the government.

For those of us old enough to remember Nikita Khrushchev’s 1956 comment about how the great and prosperous United States of America would eventually fall from within, this sorry state of affairs may be ringing like the bell of a prophecy about to come true. Unfortunately, the communists didn’t have to invade our nation by storming our beaches because they were living here among us all of that time, slowly and methodically working their way into power, running for office in the U.S. Senate and waiting for this day to come. Way to go Joe, we never saw you coming.
