The State of California – Following The Dodo Bird

Posted in California - Politics & Government on December 24th, 2008 by MorningStar

The state of California is edging closer to financial ruin by the second and it is now projected that the state’s budget gap will reach $41.8 billion through the 2009 – 2010 fiscal years. The current rate of the golden state’s financial hemorrhaging has been established at $470 per second, $28,000 per hour or $40 million dollars per day depending on how you want to express it, or how long you can keep your eyes locked on the unfolding drama. At the currently established rate of spending, the state of California will completely bleed out before the end of February.

According to the state legislators sitting on the Democratic side of the aisle the entire problem is the result of the inflexible position that has been adopted by the state’s Republican legislators, primarily, their stubborn refusal to raise taxes on the already over-burdened population. Furthermore, the Republican’s proposal to reduce the state budget, a proposal that itemized more than $15.6 billion in spending cuts while diverting $6.5 billion in existing tax revenue, was attacked and killed by the Democratic representatives before it even got onto the launch pad. On the other hand, the Republican legislators are making the case that the state’s financial meltdown is the result of the Democrat’s insatiable love for spending huge sums of tax payer money on pointless and often redundant social programs that are heavily laden with fraud and lack even the most minimal degree of accountability.

As the formerly “most prosperous state in the union” spins it’s way down the financial drain toward ruin, it’s crumbling infrastructure begins to collapse, it’s services are gradually curtailed and our police officers and fire fighters begin making their way toward the “Closed” sign at the end of the quickly growing unemployment line, the legal citizens of this state might want to begin reassessing the political philosophy that motivates them to habitually elect the same sorry collection of liberal hacks year after bleeding year. In fact, the pain of our current disease might even prompt California’s overwhelming population of liberal citizens to reconsider the value of leaving their heads buried in the sand while the corrupt politicians we have put into office slide their needle into our wallets for a few more gallons of our rapidly dwindling blood supply.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is spending $46,000 per year per inmate and yet they provide no treatment, no rehabilitation and no vocational training to the 150,000 inmates incarcerated in a system designed to hold 100,000 inmates, and not only is there no accountability for the $10 billion dollars this agency spends every year, they somehow manage to escape every attempt to make them account for their spending. The recidivism rate in California is over 70% which puts the state squarely among the highest in the nation, and according to the U.S. Justice Department, 66.3% of the admissions to California’s prison system are for parole violations which is twice the national average. One of the main reasons why the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation can get away with their outrageous spending practices is the politically powerful prison guards union. It was the California prison guards union that shelled out $3.5 million dollars for the misleading ad campaign that resulted in the defeat of Proposition 5 on last November’s ballot. Proposition 5 would have reduced the population of the California state prison system by as much as 40,000 inmates by paroling many of the state’s nonviolent offenders and saving the state nearly $2.5 billion dollars per year. The prison guards union realize that a reduction in the state’s prison population would mean a reduction in the number of prison guards required, and more importantly (to them) a reduction in the amount of union dues and pension money collected by the union leaders. Inasmuch as approximately 80 to 85% of the dues money collected by the leaders of the prison guards union is directly funneled into the campaign coffers and back pockets of the state’s Democratic legislators it is easy to understand why the liberal politicians are so quick to please the unionized employees of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

California is spending more than $1 billion a year for the care and feeding of illegal alien criminals incarcerated in the state prison system and more than 65% of the state’s estimated 500,000 members of the violent street gangs infesting our neighborhoods are illegal aliens. The amount of tax payer money spent processing, housing and basically having to deal with the huge population of illegal alien prison inmates is staggering but it is nothing in comparison to the cost of investigating the multitude of crimes they routinely commit, or the expense of having the police hunt them down, apprehend them and keep them locked up while they go to trial at an even greater expense of the state’s tax paying citizens.

On January 9th, 2008, I posted an article about information disclosed by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services to the effect that illegal aliens in Los Angeles County collected more than $37 million dollars in welfare and food stamp allocations during the month of November, that this represented an increase of $3 million dollars in a period of two months, and that Los Angeles County projected the annual cost of supplying their illegal aliens with welfare assistance and food stamp allocations at $444 million dollars annually. At the time, County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich called the figures “an alarming increase in the devastating impact illegal immigration continues to have on Los Angeles County taxpayers.”

On May 7th, 2008, I posted yet another revelation when the Los Angeles Department of Public Social Services publically indicated that more than 25% of Los Angeles County’s welfare and food stamp benefits are going directly to the children of illegal aliens, and it is costing the L.A. County taxpayers $36 million a month.

My December 5th, 2008 posting revealed that a report by Jack O’Connell, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, indicated that more than half of California’s approximate 6 million public school children are enrolled in the state and federally subsidized meal program that provides the children of poor families with free or reduced cost meals.

Los Angeles alone is spending $79 million in tax payer dollars every year to provide health care to illegal aliens and another $400 million in tax payer dollars to provide illegal aliens with welfare assistance and food stamps, however, the state’s liberal legislators can’t fathom the connection between having nearly 30 major California cities openly advertise their illegal alien sanctuary policies, the state’s estimated illegal alien population of anywhere between 6 and 8 million extremely low to no income residents, and even the most marginal affect these illegal aliens might be having on the state’s financial situation. Not only can they not see any connection, they refuse to even consider it because it would be patently racist and xenophobic thing to do so.

It is estimated that 15 to 20 percent of the K-12 students in public schools are known to be illegal aliens and there are another 18,000 illegal aliens attending the overcrowded state universities that the children of California’s legal citizens can’t get into because they don’t qualify for the same level of state subsidized financial assistance provided solely to illegal aliens. While the majority of California’s state budget goes to education, the amount that is actually spent educating the children of this state’s legal citizens is questionable. By the time we have paid out all of the bonuses to teachers who can conduct their lessons in Spanish and laid out enough to cover the six figure salaries of the school administrators, there is barely enough left over to pay for the textbooks in a half dozen different languages to say nothing of the “Spanish Immersion” pilot programs aimed at forcing the children of the state’s legal citizens to learn how to speak Spanish.

All things considered, the amount of tax money pouring every year into state and local programs directed toward the extremely low or no income individuals that have entered this nation without the proper legal authorization (aka illegal aliens) is mind boggling, and not only that, it is increasing without control, without accountability, without oversight, and with no accurate public disclosure. Furthermore, while a variety of high placed state officials are willing to admit that the figure is in the billions of dollars annually, they are unwilling to say how many billions and they are even less willing to admit that this out of control spending has had any impact whatsoever on the state’s growing budget deficit.

Admittedly, illegal aliens are not the sole cause of California’s budget deficit. The state of California is second to none when it comes to redundant social programs, fraud, mismanagement and outright theft, and the golden state’s political representatives are every bit as greedy and corrupt as their third-world counterparts. Politically powerful labor unions have played a major part in bleeding the state dry and there is no compelling reason to believe that any of them will voluntarily stop at any point in the near future. Ironically, in the state’s effort to staunch the currently uncontrolled flow of tax money out of the state’s treasury, none of these three factors are being given much consideration, and the main focus appears to be on how to implement new taxes and higher fees on the state’s working residents and businesses. In simple terms, while the tax money squirts wildly out through a multitude of cracks and holes at the bottom of this bucket, the state legislators in California are looking for ways to pump more in at the top.

California does not need or deserve federal assistance. It is in its currently deplorable financial situation because of its own dysfunctional mismanagement, stupidity and greed and it should be left to suffer the consequences of its own irresponsible actions least it drags down the rest of the nation even further. The state of California should be allowed to bleed out and die, it has worked long and hard to get to achieve this end and nobody should deny it the death it deserves. The carcass could be sold to the highest bidder, the Japanese, China, Mexico, some unknown Arab sheik looking for a new hobby, it really doesn’t matter.

Fishy Disappearance

Posted in Politics & Government on December 17th, 2008 by MorningStar

Oddly enough, KHQA News website serving the Tri-state area removed a couple of news articles from their archives immediately following the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and Barack Obama’s denial of ever having talked to the Illinois governor concerning who would get the senate seat.

The first article was published on November 8, 2008 and carried on the KHQA News website with the ID number 219212. That article stated, “Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled. Obama met with Governor Rod Blagojevich earlier this week to discuss it.”

The second article was an update to the first one and it was published on December 10, 2008 stating that Obama would be meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago to discuss filling the vacant Senate seat.

I am not offering any speculation as to why these two articles, among the thousands archived on the KHQA News website, would suddenly disappear at this point in time. I am not a big fan of coincidence and this strikes me as being a tad bit suspicious like a lot of the questions about Barack Obama’s past.  If there is nothing going on that we should know about then why hide or restrict access to the information? On the other hand, if there is something going on that we should know about then there is a any number of good reasons why someone would want to restrict access to the information or destroy it altogether.  As I said at the top of this paragraph, I am not offering any speculation as to why these two articles disappeared – I don’t want to disappear with them, my wife would miss me.

Linda Sanchez’ Easy Dismissal Of E-Verify and H.R. 4088

Posted in Illegal Aliens & Immigration Reforms on December 15th, 2008 by MorningStar

My beloved wife remains hopeful that our nation’s political representatives can be influenced to do what is right, and one of the ways she expresses this belief is by sending letters to her state and federal representatives in the attempt to elicit their support for legislation that would help to mitigate some of the damage being done to our country by the multitude of illegal aliens. Personally, I am a tad bit more pessimistic about our representative’s willingness to listen to their constituents and operate under the belief that 99.999% of the politicians in this country are irredeemably corrupt and will do nothing that does not benefit them directly regardless of what their constituents demand. My wife is a very kind, compassionate and caring human being holding out for peaceful and reasonable solutions to serious problems, and I respect that even though I do no believe that it is realistic. I remain hopeful that her and people very much like her are right in their beliefs and that I am wrong, however, the responses she gets from her communications to these individuals have, to date, been less than promising. The example given below illustrates my point with exacting precision. This response was to a letter written to Linda T. Sanchez requesting her support for H.R. 4088, the Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act of 2007.

Linda T. Sanchez
39th District, California
Congress of the United States
House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

December 9, 2008

Dear Mary:
Thank you for sharing your support for H.R. 4088, the Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act of 2007. I enjoy corresponding with my constituents.

As you may know, H.R. 4088 was introduced by Congressman Heath Shuler on November 6, 2007. It was referred to the Committees on Homeland Security, Judiciary, Ways and Means, Education and Labor, Oversight and Government Reform, Armed Services, Agriculture, and Natural Resources. To date, no further legislative action has been taken.

Our current immigration laws are not working. As a result, some individuals from other countries, desperate for a better life in the U.S., take great risks to enter our country without proper documentation. However, the SAVE Act is not the answer.

I support giving workers organizing rights, livable wages, and benefits through earned legalization. The use of undocumented workers hurts American workers, who may lose job opportunities when employers refuse to pay living wages or provide good benefits. Current policy also hurts undocumented workers because unscrupulous employers take advantage of undocumented workers by paying them low wages and providing no benefits.

Unfortunately, the SAVE Act seeks to expand the E-Verify system (formerly known as the Basic Pilot program), which has been plagued by a multitude of problems since its inception in 1997. For example, employers who misuse the program to discriminate against workers, and an inability to recognize counterfeit, borrowed, or stolen documents. Additionally, the notification system included in the SAVE Act does not address the problem of relying on government databases that have unacceptably high error rates. I do not believe that expanding a system that has proven to be a failure is the best solution to a growing problem.

In conjunction with an effective policy to ensure that we have a sufficient labor supply to meet our economy’s needs, we must create a system for employers to accurately determine if a person has legal work status. If employers are given the proper tools and still knowingly employ undocumented workers, they should be held accountable.

I respect your different point of view on this very controversial subject. While we may disagree on this issue, I am confident that there are many other areas where we agree. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. It is my pleasure to represent you in the U.S. House of Representatives. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Sincerely

Linda T. Sanchez

Member of Congress

Linda T. Sanchez has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 2003, representing the 39th District of California. She was born in Orange, California and grew up with six siblings (including fellow Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez), and she was raised by Mexican immigrant parents in Anaheim, California. Unlike her sister, Loretta, who began her political career as a liberal Republican, Linda Sanchez has always been a Democrat and is considered far more liberal than her sister.

During the 2008 campaign finance cycle, the lists of top 20 industrial contributors to her campaign, Political Action committees and individuals indicate that Linda T. Sanchez is heavily influenced by the leaders of organized labor who view illegal aliens as a means to expand their both their membership and the amount of union dues they collect every month. Inasmuch as Linda T. Sanchez is primarily a lackluster, Democratic political hack who elicits little, if any excitement among even her predominantly Hispanic constituents she is almost entirely dependent on her ability to sell the potential accomplishments of her office in exchange for the labor union money contributed to her.  This is not to say that she is doing anything illegal. but the difference between legality and what is ethical is enormous and it is obvious that our members of congress are sometimes easily confused by the difference.
The 39th Congressional District in California is made up of South Gate, Lynwood, Paramount, Lakewood, Cerritos, La Mirada and part of Whittier, a large percentage of her legal constituents are Hispanic and an equally large percentage of the individuals living in this district are, in fact, illegal aliens. Despite most reliable polls indicating that Hispanic-American citizens and legal immigrants favor strong immigration enforcement, Linda T. Sanchez continues to oppose virtually every legislative attempt to strengthen those laws. She uses her own Hispanic ethnicity as some sort of validation that she speaks for her Hispanic constituents in the 39th District when, in reality, she is merely speaking for the labor unions who want to take advantage of the illegal aliens by organizing them so they can tap their wages for dues money. The Hispanic-Americans and legal immigrants of the 39th Congressional District are just about as fed up with illegal aliens as the rest of the country, possibly even more so. Their neighborhoods are hit the hardest with criminal street gangs, graffiti, drive-by shootings, uninsured drunk drivers, identity theft and all of the other crimes associated with large populations of illegal aliens. Their children are the kids most endangered by illegal aliens gang bangers indiscriminately shooting up neighborhoods, their houses are the ones getting broken into, their cars are the ones that are most stolen and their neighborhoods are the ones getting trashed up with graffiti. Many of them were either born here legally or patiently waited their turn to immigrate to this country in the proper manner, and the idea that their former countrymen would come here illegally and demand the same rights and benefits that they worked so hard to establish for themselves and their families is an insult to everything they have struggled to accomplish. Unfortunately, the Hispanic-Americans, naturalized citizens and legal immigrants of the 39th Congressional District have not yet figured out that Linda T. Sanchez is one of the primary reasons why their neighborhoods continue to be the playgrounds of violent street gangs and predatory illegal aliens because she is not representing the best interests of her actual constituents as much as she is representing the agenda laid out for her by the labor unions who could care less about the crime rate in the 39th District or it’s affect on the people who live there.

Contrary to what Linda Sanchez says about the E-Verify system, it is a tool that works and when it comes to immigration enforcement, there are not enough tools in the tool box to get the job done largely in part to obstructionist liberals representing the demands of labor union leaders over the demands of their constituents. The E-Verify system has had problems. Social Security Administration staffers routinely commit errors while entering data and those errors could adversely affect someone looking for employment, however, the number of errors made, in comparison to the amount of data input into the system, are relatively few, and over time, those errors can be corrected. If the Social Security Administration staffers can’t efficiently and correctly input the data, that’s no reason to get rid of E-Verify, but it is a good reason to reconsider those staffer’s employment status. Essentially, the E-Verify system is an effective tool for immigration enforcement and it will become more efficient and effective as time goes on. It cannot become more efficient and effective if it is scrapped and replaced by something else, and there is no guarantee that such a replacement would be error free, more efficient or more effective. By replacing the E-Verify system we would essentially be starting over from scratch, and there is no real justification for doing so when what we have now can be fixed so that it works the way we want it is supposed to work. Furthermore, while the labor union’s bought and paid for politicians are quick to point out the flaws in the E-Verify system, none of them have proposed a better system or shown us how the job could be done better. Crescent wrenches are a lot more effective than the rust-coated old forged steel monkey wrenches but if what you got is an empty wallet, a monkey wrench and a leaky pipe flange then you’re going to use that monkey wrench no matter how old and ugly it is because it works. Throwing out a functional tool when there is nothing to replace it is only an option considered by idiots.

Our current immigration laws would work fine if they were enforced as they were meant to be enforced. The primary critics of our current immigration laws are those who would stand to profit by changing them, such as the companies looking for a cheap source of labor and labor unions looking for more members to swindle out of dues and pension money. The individuals illegally entering our nation from other countries might be desperate for a better life in the U.S. but they are also criminals that have violated our immigration laws and they need to be sent back to their own countries because we cannot pick and choose which laws we will obey and which to ignore if our legal system is to have any credibility. Fortunately, quite a few Americans already understand this fundamental fact. All we have to do to really show some progress around here is to convince the elected representatives like Linda T. Sanchez to do our bidding instead of the labor union’s bidding.

America – Auctioned, Bought and Delivered

Posted in Politics & Government on December 10th, 2008 by MorningStar

Barack Hussein Obama and the Democratic National Party bought the highest office in the land with $668 million collected from largely unidentifiable sources including illegal financial support from foreign nationals, entirely fictional sources, donors who far exceeded the legal campaign contribution limits and mountains of money from open border advocacy groups and labor union graft artists, along with extremely generous promises made to a broad coalition of immigrant rights groups, civil rights groups representing every special interest group under the sun, big labor’s power brokers, and the representatives of business associations, big corporations and industrial concerns. Now that the Democrats have secured their control over the administration, the legislature and the judiciary, and Obama has secured his place in history as this nation’s 44th president, and the first nearly (but not quite) black man to hold such a high office, the debt collectors are clamoring for their expected paybacks and the American voters are waiting in breathless anticipation of seeing how our 44th president juggles the distribution of down payments and “change” simultaneously.

At this point in time it appears that the immigration advocates are clamoring the loudest. In exchange for millions of dollars in campaign contributions collected from illegal aliens, open border and immigration advocacy groups and a few million pro-Obama ballots cast by illegal aliens, the underground community of illegal ID thieving, tax evading, parasitic aliens are pushing for a down payment that includes administrative rules changes favoring illegal border hoppers, including but not limited to, a moratorium on workplace immigration raids and a curtailment of stepped-up immigration enforcement while the liberal controlled Congress works on broader legislation to implement amnesty for this nation’s estimated 20+ million illegal aliens, significant expansion of visa programs and a guest worker program that is even easier to defraud and has less enforcement teeth than the current program. The untold millions of Mexican nationals illegally residing in this country want their piece of the American pie and they are not forgetting Obama’s campaign pledge to produce an immigration bill during his first year in office. They didn’t put him in office for nothing and they are not going to be content until they see the United States of America become the sort of third world barrio that they can be comfortable living in, from sea to shining sea. Obama, who is quick to please, has already started moving in their direction by appointing the senior vice president of the racist Mexican group “La Raza” to a high level position as the director for intergovernmental affairs in the new president’s administration and despite other, more pressing concerns facing the new president, he is quietly assuring the immigration advocates that they will get everything he’s promised to them and more, despite what the American people demand of him. We asked for “Change,” and Obama stands ready to deliver. Unfortunately, the first change that needs to be made is to limit the interference of the American voters in the major policy decisions made by the new president and legislative matters considered by the liberal controlled U.S. Congress.

Right behind the immigration crowd stand the infinitely corrupt labor union power brokers in the neck to neck race among the clamoring special interests eagerly salivating over their anticipated payback. For decades the labor unions have loyally served as the Democratic Party’s most effective money laundering scheme ever devised and they haven’t beaten all of the surplus income out of their member’s pockets just to be spurned by another presidential administration. They want plenty and won’t be denied. Obama promised to eliminate the pesky necessity of democratic elections from their organizing campaigns and they want that little bit of strong arm robbery done quickly despite the adverse affect it will have on millions of American workers or the fact that it will cause even more American companies to move overseas. The elimination of secret ballot elections from union organizing drives will make it much easier for the corrupt unions to bring American business enterprises to their knees and force millions of American workers to pay financial homage to labor unions they don’t want to be associated with let alone support. Ultimately, it will mean that even more union money will flow into Democratic campaign coffers in the future because it will significantly increase the labor union’s membership and give the corrupt labor leaders far more pockets to pick than they ever dreamed possible. The simple fact that it might be the death knell for American prosperity is easily overlooked by a voting population that has demanded “change” at any cost and the labor unions, which are well used to leaving a path of destruction trailing off behind them, are less than concerned about such trifling consequences. Furthermore, the labor unions are also reminding the president-elect that he should put America’s school children first among his list of concerns by giving the unionized (and miserably incompetent) school teachers more power and bigger salaries so they are better equipped to indoctrinate this nation’s future generations with the liberal agenda and secure a socialistic future for the prosperity of future liberal elitists. Least we forget, there is also the matter of bailing out America’s big three automakers. This is a high priority agenda item for the union leaders that have played a major role in the financial ruin of that sector of American industry. Despite the fact that American automakers have enjoyed a government rigged market favoring them over foreign imports for many years, and the fact that their continuous mismanagement has required previous bailouts in the past, the United Auto Worker’s Union has driven them to the brink of insolvency once again and has been spearheading the lobbying effort behind yet another government bailout. Millions of artificially inflated union wages, and more importantly, billions of dollars in union dues slated for Democratic campaign coffers are in danger of being lost if congress fails to act swiftly and decisively. To delay adding this additional burden to the already stooped shoulders of the American taxpayer is unthinkable and possibly unpatriotic. A collapse of the American auto industry will leave thousands of American auto workers (many of which are minorities) without their $45 dollar per hour assembly line jobs and lucrative pension/health care benefits. Many of them might be forced into finding real work with non-union companies who know how to manage their finances. It would be far better to further burden the taxpayers than to let all of those future contributions to the Democratic Party be lost with another election coming in four short years.

We have insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies clamoring for health care reforms that promise unimaginable opportunities for graft, greed and fraud through inevitable government incompetence. The insanely lucrative possibilities are too overwhelming to even consider, and in a nation where everything touched by the government immediately begins to hemorrhage copious amounts of tax money, the insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies consider a national health care plan their path to a heaven on Earth. The certainty of low quality medical care, the deaths of American citizens and the destruction of the best medical care system anywhere on the planet can be overlooked because there are profits waiting to swell and opportunities for riches yet untapped. We can’t let a few million dead Americans stand in the way of “change” when there is another election coming in four short years and for all we know the 45th presidential seat may cost even more.

“Change” is coming. The American voters demanded it, the president elect has promised it and our enemies abroad are counting on it with the anticipation of salivating wolves closing in for the kill. Since most of those among us who still have the common sense to realize the real and pressing need for armed rebellion are far too old to engage in any such insurrection, we will have to sit quietly by and watch as this educational experience unfolds before us. Hope might spring eternal but the dark toxic cloud on our horizon has no silver lining and only the strong, the prepared and the well armed will survive.

You Can’t Cure The Plague By Ignoring The Rats

Posted in Illegal Aliens & Immigration Reforms on December 10th, 2008 by MorningStar

Political correctness soared to new heights over the weekend as the Orange County Register published an article about the complaints of local illegal alien college students who can’t find a job following graduation. About three paragraphs into the article the paper stated that they were withholding the names of the students because of possible retaliation. Since when is the apprehension and deportation of criminals considered retaliation? Following that logic, if the Orange Country Register had information that could identify a serial murderer they would not tell the police for fear that they would retaliate by arresting the person. Like the majority of newspapers around the country, the Orange County Register stopped serving the public and started serving their liberal political agenda instead.

Ironically, on the front page of the same newspaper section the editor ran an article describing how the state’s looming $28 billion dollar budget deficit has forced the California State University system to turn away 10,000 students and community colleges are being forced to drop their winter intersession and cut back on the number of classes they offer. However, they fail to make any connection between the tax dollars spent on educating the state’s large population of undocumented immigrant elementary, junior and high school students, the revenue lost by providing in-state tuitions to undocumented immigrant college students, and the growing state budget deficit. The Orange County Register, like most other “news” outlets and most government officials,  has consistently failed to make any connection between the estimated 6 million illegal immigrants living in California and the state’s growing budget deficit. Billions of California’s tax dollars are being used every year to provide educational opportunities, health care and hospitalization, meals, housing and welfare subsidies to individuals that have entered this nation illegally and nobody seems to be able to figure out how such a significant economic burden is affecting the state’s deficit.

How many facts have to be thrown onto to scales of reason in order to overcome the onerous weight of political correctness and correctly identify the source of California’s economic problem? Our jails and prisons are filled beyond capacity with illegal aliens, our elementary, junior and high schools are overcrowded with the non-English speaking children of illegal aliens, our hospital emergency rooms are stuffed full of illegal aliens and yet nobody seems to connect all of these illegal aliens with the state’s economic situation. Is it just stupidity or is it political correctness? The biggest crime problem in the state and the one that consumes most of the authorities time is the street gangs, 60% of which are made up of illegal aliens, and yet the cost associated with all of that activity is not considered as being a part of the deficit problem. Most of the state’s budget goes to education and yet the legislators don’t question the high cost of supplying free meals to illegal alien children, bilingual educational materials to students who can’t speak English or the inordinate amount of time wasted by teachers on students who shouldn’t even be in this country.

Every problem has a root cause and the budget deficit in California is no different. Until the state legislators muster the balls to identify the root cause of the problem it will remain unsolved. This is a fact of life and it is as true of California’s economic crisis as it is of the entire nation’s economic crisis. If our elected representatives can’t get past the social demand for political correctness and face the actual causes behind the growing deficit they will never be able to solve anything.

California’s unemployment rate is expected to rise above 8.2%, and across the nation 533,000 Americans lost their jobs in November and the national unemployment rate is nearly at 7%. How is this problem going to be resolved by curtailing workplace immigration raids and increasing the number of work visas handed out to immigrants? Nationwide tests show that American children are graduating from high school with less preparation to effectively face the challenges of adulthood than ever before. How can we expect that pathetic situation to be corrected when the largest percentage of our educational tax dollars is being frittered away on educational benefits for illegal aliens – benefits that are not even available for American citizens?

President elect Barack Obama made “Change” his trademark slogan during the 2008 presidential campaign, that and $668 million put him in the highest office in the land for the next four years, but we need to be giving his proposed changes some real intense scrutiny. As it stands now, it appears that the only thing he is willing to change is the depth to which Washington’s head is buried in its own ass.

OJ Simpson – Nailed To The Wall

Posted in News Events & Media Censorship on December 5th, 2008 by MorningStar

Following OJ Simpson’s five minute speech, loaded down with half-hearted apologies and questionable justifications, the Nevada judge overseeing the criminal case stemming from the 2007 robbery in a Los Vegas hotel room, sentenced the shackled football Hall of Famer to hard time in the Nevada state prison where he could end up spending the next 33 years (if he lives that long). While she was at it, the judge also denied Simpson’s request for freedom while he waits on the appeal process and he was summarily carted off to start serving his sentence. Unfortunately for OJ, the Nevada juries aren’t nearly as stupid as the juries they slap together in Los Angeles. Screw him, he should have been doing time years ago.

Patterns And Perceptions

Posted in America In Decline on December 5th, 2008 by MorningStar

The Los Angeles Times carried a small article this morning to report that Jack O’Connell, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, has disclosed that 3,118,053 California school children are now enrolled in the state and federally subsidized meal program that provides the children of poor families with free or reduced cost meals. This is a fairly startling revelation in light of the fact that there are only around 6 million children enrolled in California’s public elementary schools and the government is feeding more than half of them under this program.

Speaking of student – the results of a survey conducted by the Center for Youth Ethics at the Josephson Institute in Los Angeles indicates that 64% of the high school students surveyed said they had cheated on a test at least once in the past year. 36% admitted to plagiarizing internet articles for homework assignments and 82% said that they had copied another student’s work at least once in the last year. Another 30% admitted to shoplifting while a solid 90% admitted to lying to their parents about something important. Despite all of this dishonesty the survey refreshingly noted that even the students who admitted to lying, cheating and stealing still hold a positive view of themselves and are satisfied with their personal ethics and character.

The Christmas season got off with a bang as 2000 bargain crazed Wal-Mart shoppers crashed through the closed doors of a Wal-Mart store 20 miles east of Manhattan and trampled a 34-year-old male employee to death in their mad dash to grab up the cheap camcorders and $28 dollar vacuum cleaners. The wild-eyed Wal-Mart customers were stepping all over the cops as they tried to perform CPR on the trampled employee.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the country, two gangbangers looking to suck up some cheap toys at a Toys R Us in Palm Desert, California got into an argument that quickly escalated into a running gun battle through the store as shoppers dashed for cover. Oddly enough, no innocents were injured in the brief firefight but the gangsters did manage to hit each other and their corpses were retrieved, fittingly enough, from the front of the store near the checkout counter. All things considered, justice was well served and the local populace of Palm Desert should view this as an early Christmas present.

There is very definitely something wrong with the American people and it isn’t something that government reform or a change in our political environment is going to fix. If anything, government intervention is likely to make matters even worse.
