It has been five years since the World Trade Center came crashing down on the streets of New York City. The American citizens, for the sake of personal security, have given away many of their, once sacred, personal freedoms and yet we are no closer to winning the war on terror than we were when the Islamic fanatics rammed our own planes into the twin towers. The face that was put on our enemy of convenience was that of unreasoning Islamic fanaticism, hell bent of worldwide Jihad and the effort to impose the law of Islam across the entire planet. However, the real enemy is not the one that has us all cowering behind the authoritarian Department of Homeland Security. The real enemies of the American people and the American way of life are the hidden forces that are positioning themselves to reap the benefits from our willingness to allow the U.S. government to eradicate every vestige of our once valued freedoms. It is time for the American people to wake up and see what they are allowing to happen in the name of National Security before it is too late to turn the course of this destruction.

According to the Pew Research Center, five years after 9-11, Americans’ opinions about how best to protect against future attacks have shifted to the point that they feel reducing the country’s military presence abroad would be the best way to reduce the threat of terrorist attacks at home. As we close in on the next Presidential campaign, the Republican Party has already coined the term “Cut and Run” for this type of thinking and the Democrats who foster it are calling the Republicans “Fear Mongers.” That fact may be that the American people are becoming increasingly uneasy with the fabrications of both political parties and are starting to accept the truth that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are in touch with the American people who are growing very weary of having their pockets picked by both sides to finance agendas we are never advised about and would not support if we were.

If there is anyone thing that is clear, it is that the American people are as divided about the events of 9/11 today as they have ever been about anything.
