Tyranny may reign but liberty will not die
While the fight over the Senate amnesty bill rages on throughout the United States the inevitability of the obviously corrupt bill’s acceptance by an even more obviously corrupt group of U.S. Senators becomes more apparent with every passing day.
George W. Bush, with a lower acceptance rating than that of Andrew Jackson or Bill Clinton at the height of the impeachment proceedings against them, has clearly demonstrated that, with the backing of corporate interests and minority special interest groups, he can still force the destructively divisive amnesty bill back to life.
Ironically, the amnesty bill, supported by the United States Chamber of Commerce and large corporate contributors who have historically supported conservative candidates and causes is the poison pill that will forever destroy the GOP’s struggle for equal footing in American politics and, with that destruction, the corporate interests will lose the favor and protection provided to them in the past by their friends in the GOP.
Senate Bill 1348 may eventually become law. In the new United States where money and political favor speaks louder than honesty and integrity, this sad truth seems assured. However, the backlash of American voters afterwards will certainly be like a tidal wave of monumental proportions and it will alter the political landscape of this nation forever. It will be a beautiful thing to watch.
George W. Bush may succeed in entirely destroying the Republican Party, a feat that millions of American liberals could not accomplish but, he can not destroy the conservative ideology of the American voters that supported it. The Democratic Party, bolstered by new found support from the 20 million legalized aliens may dominate the American political scene for decades to come but, eventually, this too will change and, the spirit of liberty, the underlying force that once made this nation great, will again be resurrected in the dreams of common men and women and, freedom in a land of liberty will be born anew. In the meantime – my best advice is to keep your powder dry.
