Border Security Funds Cut By Democrats
It is not too surprising that the 2008 Defense spending bill came back from the joint conference negotiations without the $3 billion for border security overwhelmingly approved earlier in the U.S. Senate. It is even less surprising to discover that the money, which would have been used to cover the completion of the border fence, pay for the recruitment and training of 23,000 additional Border Patrol officers, increase the number of beds available to detain illegal immigrants to 45,000 and pay for the 105 ground-based radars, the surveillance towers along the border and the four new unmanned aerial vehicles to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border, was jerked out of the Defense spending bill by Democratic politicians determined to do everything possible to undermine any attempt to secure this nation’s borders and stem the invasion of millions of illegal aliens flooding into the United States every year.
Then again, when you consider the fact that these same Democrats enthusiastically slashed away at the appropriations that would be used to supply our sons and daughters in Iraq with body armor and more IED resistant vehicles because a higher death toll among American soldiers is politically advantageous to their screwed up political agenda, a small matter like jerking the rug out from underneath the Border Security provisions is simply icing on their cake.
How in the hell these people can sleep at night is beyond all comprehension. I can’t imagine what it must be like for them to get up every morning and look in the mirror knowing that they’ve done everything possible to bring about the death and dismemberment of American soldiers in Iraq for the sake of their own selfish political gain. It must be real tough to know what a small-minded, cowardly, back-stabbing sneak you really are and still be able to resist ripping open your own throat with a dull fingernail file.
